  1. The Red Sox have six catchers on the roster, and six outfielders on the roster. Does that make sense to you?
  2. I looked at the 40 man roster this afternoon. I highly disagree.
  3. Reiterating an important word here-- minor league.
  4. Orioles get Jurrjens. Not thrilled, the Red Sox should have been in on more of these guys. Seriously, they can't afford 1.5 million on some depth signings?
  5. What does everyone feel about Carl Pavano? He might be up for minor league contract.
  6. The Red Sox are being very protective of some of their mediocre members of their 40 man roster right now. Not sure why Dan Butler would get a chance over Lars Anderson, but who knows.
  7. Personally, I prefer when they play for the Yankees, but play badly. Vazquez's 5.32 ERA was an awful lot of fun. Joba Chamberlain and the bugs in Cleveland will always have a warm place in my heart.
  8. It looks like the Mets are looking to a one, maybe two relievers. I wonder if they would take Bailey or Aceves for Santana + cash.
  9. Perhaps I've used words that may be a bit on the strong side. I believe they have a chance in 2013. I'm just frustrated that they've ignored the rotation when there have been numerous quality starters available at bargain prices.
  10. The team has good offense, good defense, and a good bullpen. It just seems irresponsible for them to hope they get lucky in the one area where they've failed the last two years. It has been the same story-- quality pitching from the top of the rotation, and zero depth and massive ERAs at the back of it. The Red Sox need one more starter.
  11. Marcum was the last worthwhile pitcher available. They go into 2013, with what they had last year, but replace Beckett with Dempster. Can you say that their work on the rotation this offseason was anything but failure?
  12. By the sound of it, they looked into him, but when they picked up Dempster, they stopped.
  13. This is a big miss for the Red Sox. There was exactly one player available who was proven to perform at high level in the AL East, and they whiffed on him for a one year deal. Epic fail.
  14. Probably because most white girl celebrities aren't easy.
  15. I'm going to do this for your benefit, since you missed it last time around. Career numbers for a few guys: Player A: .275 / .341 / .430/ .771 averages 35 steals, 3 gold gloves Player B: .297 / .349/ .442/ .791 averages 40 steals, 1 gold glove Player C: .255 /.336/ .422/ .758 averages 40 steals, 0 gold gloves Player D: .272/.339/ .365/ .704, averages 60 steals, 2 gold gloves A is Victorino. B is Ellsbury. C is Upton. D is Bourn. Get it into your head. Victorino is very very good.
  16. Olympic decathletes have more all-around skills I would bet.
  17. Agreed. The Red Sox essentially gave him the money equal to what many teams pay their setup man. There really is no downside to backpedal from.
  18. Does it make me a bad fan if I probably won't even recognize those guys? Maybe Nava, but he's pretty generic looking.
  19. If you scaled all six players to play 160 games, Trout/Trumbo/Hamilton would have had a better season. Mantle and Harris played a ton more games than Trout/Hamilton, which was the difference-maker.
  20. Hey Jacko, are you lurking? I always respect your opinions on these kinds of things, any thoughts on Napoli?
  21. Someone will be talking about Hamilton, Trout, Trumbo some day.
  22. No way in hell does he accept that deal. Why accept a deal of half his value to stay with a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in ten years? 6/150 is where any serious discussions with King Felix will start.
  23. The Red Sox have said a few things that offseason that makes me believe that they're open to long term deals, but only for the right players. They also said they were willing to trade away prospects, but only for the right players. It seemed like they didn't want to touch Sanchez, Greinke, Shields or Dickey with a ten foot pole. But Felix?
  24. Sounds easily obtainable.
