  1. Someone doesn't have a sense of humor today.
  2. Victorino was by far the best right fielder in baseball. I don't know about Pedroia, but if he wasn't the best 2B, then the statistics were just wrong.
  3. You could make a similar case that Lester has literally been all the pitching. The Red Sox have 9 postseason wins, and he has 4 of them. The only game he has lost was a 0-1 game. Compare his postseason to guys like Price, Wainright, Kershaw, the "bonafide" aces, and it shows how impressive he has been. Hell, look at the failures of Peavy and Buchholz, and it shows just how important he has been to this team. Did I mention that Detroit and St Louis were #2 and #3 in runs scored in the regular season? If Ortiz wins the MVP -- which would be similarly well-deserved -- he needs to go to trophys.com and order Lester a World Series Cy Young, because what he has done is nothing short of masterful.
  4. The Yankees prepare for October. They're not going to spend lots of money on a guy who is 4-50 this year. That's why Beltran seems like a good target for them.
  5. World Series Cy Young Award?
  6. The Red Sox lost a game with Koji on the mound. For a guy who throws so few innings, I don't think this is his series. Lester has been historically good this postseason. He deserves plenty of accolades, but that award is Ortiz's award to win. If he continues to hit like he has, it is his. If he is meh for the rest of the series and/or Lester pitches some shutdown innings in either games 6 or 7 it could swing his way.
  7. I don't blame him. It is a win-win. Either you win, or the Red Sox win. If the Sox lose, everyone here will be miserable, but atleast YoTN will have some extra cash ( and he always seems to need extra cash). There is a reason why I always love drafting Yankee players in fantasy baseball. If they suck, it is a great and glorious thing. If they win, well, it definitely sucks, but atleast it benefits me a bit.
  8. No worries -- it gets released but then sits at mlb.com until the other sites pick it up and put it on calendars.

  10. "Can you think of any players who have gone through the kind of stretch Ortiz has gone through this season? " -reporter "I would say I've done it maybe 20 times this year." -Ortiz
  11. The biggest concern for Game 6 is whether or not Victorino will play. Nava is not meant to field in right at Fenway.
  12. Kobe Bryant aint walking through that door.
  13. If there is a game 7, I want to see 2 innings from Lester.
  14. At what point do the Cardinals simply walk Ortiz every single AB?
  15. You would think that after the postseason he has had that maybe he would realize that its not anyone else's fault.
  16. Wow... not only did they recycle the same "Bogaerts speaks 4 languages" bit, Buck and Mccarver both pretty much said the same exact thing as last time.
  17. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that Ortiz is the Red Sox World Series MVP? Unless Lester throws a shutout tonight, I don't think it is even close.
  18. Baseball America just rated the Red Sox's farm system to be #1 in baseball for top-level prospects. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/a-simple-accounting-of-farm-system-impact-potential/
  19. Picked off in a 9th inning World Series game? That's worst moment of your life material there.
  20. Wait, what? Why Lackey? He needs to start in 3 days.
  21. Papi -- "I'm going to hold my glove up in the air... just in case"
