For everyone who believed this is the end for Mo you were wrong. He was quoted telling reporters today "I am coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this." He also tweeted a thank you to fans, friends and his family for support, saying: "I will be OK. I will be back." Even though he's 42 he clearly has plenty enough in the tank to still be a dominant closer. He doesn't need to rely on velocity to be effective. Hell even Jamie Moyer is still a starting pitcher and he's 49 years old.

Schilling said this of Pineda "He can be back better than he has ever been in 10 months" "Maybe less, because he is younger. It is going to be 100 percent on him." The fact that he's only 23 and has low miles on his arm is definitely something to be optimistic about.

Being a DH will significantly hurt Montero’s value, and even if he becomes a well-above average hitter, he will not be nearly as valuable as he would be if he could play defense. As of today it looks like the Yankees got the short side of the stick. Pineda was fully healthy when the Yanks acquired him, it's just an unfortunate circumstance.
