  1. If we stand pat, we'd have lost a step from last season. While our rotation would be far and away the best in baseball, that alone can't win games if you have a guy like Kotchman playing first. Our offense loses a step, in that case; Think about it, we lose Bay and Lowell, and replace them with Cameron and Kotchman, respectively. That's a fairly significant downgrade offensively in both cases, even given Mike Lowell's age and injuries.
  2. In all fairness, you attacked more his posting style than the point he was attempting to make. That's just my opinion of it, though.
  3. It's easy when the victim is Gom, just sayin.
  4. Yeah, agreed. It's painful and maddening to watch 'Tek's at bats.
  5. But what if we make the trade for Gonzales? I think that makes our lineup probably as good or slightly better, but maybe takes a little away from our defense. Not sure though, I haven't looked into who would replace Ellsbury.
  6. Then by this logic, Nick Johnson is not better, or even a push wish Dustin Pedroia. THAT, my friend, is bias.
  7. To Gom: He had the third-highest OPS+ in the NL, that says something about his ballpark right there. Pretty sure he'd have a surge in power playing in Boston, regardless of competition. NL West has great pitchers. Kershaw, Lincecum, Cain, Webb, Haren, a few more I'm forgetting, but they're not only great pitchers, but they're in pitcher's parks as well.
  8. He's in the 30+ crowd, I know that. I thought he was closer to 40 than 30, too.
  9. Lol, it's hilarious how Gom can call someone out for being confrontational, when he's being more confrontational than they are, and escalating a fight that had already died down. He's what? 37 years old? It's time to start acting like it. You're the guy who made a thread about "toning it down", and here you are inciting a major fight. It's called consistency, Gom.
  10. That's a significant difference from 3.61...
  11. He doesn't have to improve on what Hughes does, as he's much more proven than Hughes is. You still haven't told me how those guys are comparable to Dice-K.
  12. No, not a chance. Buchholz and Dice K have shown MUCH better strides in the big leagues than Joba and Hughes.
  13. Burnett is very hit-and-miss, Sabathia is an ace, and in the playoffs, they did carry the load, but that's due to a lot of days off. The Sox have a much deeper rotation, and I think Pettite and Burnett would have to fight to even have a spot in the rotation, personally.
  14. Their lineup slightly>Ours Our Rotation>>>>>>>Theirs And adding another bat to play third or first (Youk staying put or moving the third) such as Beltre or Gonzales would even things quite a bit. Especially if it's Gonzales.
  15. I think the biggest problem with that was the amount of pushes... I mean, Johnson and Pedroia? Really?
  16. Did you actually push Johnson and Pedroia? Pedroia actually has the ability to play a full season, and their OPS are comparable.
