  1. Why isn't Pedey batting 2nd? 3 hits tonite. Gomes batting 2nd is a mystery. Papi should hit 3rd following Pedey.
  2. Iggy .435, Drew .211. You wonder if Drew is the one feeling the pressure.
  3. except for CC, of course.
  4. load that lineup with LHd hitters in NY. You don't have to be fussy. remarkable how Iggy keeps hitting. how long will they go with Drew at SS?
  5. how do you know?
  6. Surprising that Pap hasn't lost anything by now, especially after that lapse in form a few years back. You say why pay a closer $13 mil, but look at the guys they are paying $13mil to right now.
  7. Ells has heated up. But clearly, Pedey should be batting 2nd, Nava or Papi 3rd. Pedey's power may be affected by his thumb injury.
  8. The FO continues to show mediocre handling of young players. They bring up a hot Bradley and sit him on the bench, playing Carp instead, who just busted up an inning with a DP grounder swinging at a bad pitch. Last night, Aceves pitched a helluva game in a critical start, replacing baby Buchholz, and he gets sent down as a reward, while Mortenson continues to stink up the BP. Strange are the ways of the FO.
  9. Salty is improving as a hitter--more selective at the plate. Learning the strike zone.
  10. Tuned in just long enough to see Carp try to pull a low outside pitch and hit a dp grounder to 2B. Bradley is the hot hitter. They bring him up and sit him on the bench. Go figure. I would put Papi at 1B. He's probably about as good right now defensively as Napoli. Don't underestimate the guy. He was a first baseman in his non DH days.
  11. get that HOF plaque ready.
  12. His hitting has improved. His defense, I don't know. He still frames the middle of the plate too much.
  13. Unless Lackey turns into a Buchholz or Lester quickly, they should go after Lee, if the Phillies make him available. They need another stopper at the #3 if they are going to stay in contention. Maybe somebody in the NL will take Dempster, who pitches better there. Some team in contention. He is not an AL pitcher at his age. The other reason they need another stopper is Buchholz--he clearly isn't durable.
  14. Dempster should be shipped back the NL. Showed why tonite. He might actually be worth close to $13 mil over there. Aceves got shipped back to Pawtucket as a reward for last night's performance. Mortenson lives a charmed life--out of options. Mediocrity's secret to longevity.
  15. Dempster showed tonite why he should be traded back to the NL. Has more value there. I see they shipped out Aceves. Nice reward for last night. Mortenson lives a charmed life. The trick is to be out of options. That impresses the beancounters.
  16. I think he's miscast as a utility player. He's a classic great field/no hit SS. Period. A Belanger, Ozzie Smith, Aparicio type--if he can just develop his hitting a bit more. He's young enough to make it happen. It's just that he's with an organization that doesn't allow kids to develop with the parent team. They stay in the minors until there's an opening.
  17. Aceves is a hot-headed guy who was mishandled last year. He was forced into a variety of roles because of FO mistakes, and asked to do too much. The result was he imploded. This year, Farrell has had to undo the damage, without pointing any fingers--I should add--and so far he has done a respectable job, which culminated in last night's strong performance. Farrell shows an ability to handle players and their sensitivities which others in the organization could well learn from.
  18. That Aceves has a lot of moxie. The trick is to channel that moxie to the right ends. That was not the case last year. Farrell may have a better handle this year.
  19. looks like Miller needs to go 2 innings to get sharp.
  20. The network media will not like those standings.
  21. You have to demote a couple of pitchers, Mortenson and Miller are the ones.
  22. Farrell has to be mindful that his team scored 4 in the 9th last night to win. It's not over 'til it's over.
  23. why can't they just bring up a couple of their top prospects and work them out of the BP to gain experience? that's how they used to do it. And that's how TB does it.
  24. imagine, Miller can't even get lefties out.
  25. they are carrying 13 pitchers. ridiculous. one relief pitcher an inning and 100 pitches for the starter will do that.
