  1. You mean OBP%+SLG% right? that is the OPS you are referring to? the one that is comprises half of its value from OBP%? no one said that OPS was a bad stat, its a great stat, the point was that not making outs is your first goal as a hitter, if nothing else it gives you one more chance to push one across, not to mention the first step (outside of HRs) to scoring runs is getting on base. not to mention, if there is one problem I have with OPS it's that it doesn't value OBP enough, being that a players OBP is usually a smaller number than their SLG%.
  2. I disagree, but to each his own, and having never been to a USC game I don't have the best POV.
  3. Didnt count USC, because USC isn't what most people would consider "The South" and their fans aren't as passionate about it as, say a, die hard Bama or LSU fan.
  4. I was just refering to Football, not basketball or any other sports. Historical Teams from the North (let me know if I miss anything) Notre Dame Michigan Ohio State Wisconsin Penn State Michigan State UConn BC I know Im missing alot but those are the teams with big followings off the top of my head Southern Teams Texas Oklahoma Texas A&M Nebraska(could be considered with the north) LSU Tennessee Alabama Florida Georgia TCU Florida State Miami Auburn all of these have followings of people, even if some of the teams aren't as great as they used to be they have massive fan bases and die hard fans, I know more about the South than the North, so I may be biased, and I don't know about as many of the teams from the north so please mention any that I may have left out.
  5. btw, what was the deall with the whole Pumpamania thing? just curious.
  6. yeah here in the south (maybe the rest of the country too but I don't know) College sports is big, we all love our professional teams but there's just something about College sports, I watch Army vs. Navy every year and it reminds me why college sports is so great.
  7. lol, is cricket cool? Its never interested me enough to watch, I know nothing about players and teams in Rugby and Soccer but I love to watch it anyways but I know even less about Cricket.
  8. Texas is usually good at Football, Basketball, and Baseball.
  9. Basketball is UK's bread and butter, they have a very succesful and long college basketball history, in football, not so much.
  10. If Saiban left it'd be for a contender, and I don't think any of the big dawgs would be willing to take him if he jumped ship on another team like that, so I don't expect he'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
  11. yeah like I said, it sucks that Colt didn't get his chance but I don't think that solely because we lost, I've just followed him for 4 years and I really felt that he had earned his right to play in that game, its a shame he didn''t get too, but with the way Gilbert stepped up and made it a game I can still hold my head high and know that we really deserved to be there wether or not we won. what I found the most entertaining was the chess game that went on when UT was on Defense with Muschamp making the calls and I assume Saiban making the calls for alabama's offense, it was quite the duel between student and mentor and Muschamp knows how to squeeze that D for all its worth, but Saiban did a hell of a job putting this team together and getting them here, hell of a coach and a hell of a team.
  12. Congrats from a UT fan, hell of a game huh?
  13. My list of teams that I will almost never root for is OU, LSU (sorry Nutriarch you're cool but you are one of only 3 LSU fans out of countless numbers of cajuns that I've actually liked), Ole Miss, USC, and Notre Dame; other than those teams I don't really hate any teams.
  14. I understand that, I will root for Texas teams most of the time, but if Texas goes 2-12 and OU goes undefeated and wins the BCS Im not going to go out and hoot and holler about how awesome the Big 12 is, in fact last year I watched the National championship with little emotion, I was tired of hearing about Tebow and UF but I also hated OU and was pissed that Texas got robbed of a shot at a BCS title game.
  15. I did, and I've felt that way for about the past 5 years as well I just don't like SEC fans in general (im not saying all of you, in fact most of my friends are attending SEC schools) they are so pproud of their confrences even if their team sucks.
  16. Unless you are attending an SEC school currently that doesn't matter, and I'm sorry for being a bit abrasive but I've had to deal with Ole Miss fans (especially before they beat florida) and other s***** SEC teams' fans who root for their conference more than they root for their team and its kind of retarded, so sorry for attacking you I'm just not in the best mood right now.
  17. so what? Kentucky didn't win s*** so quit the conference ********, it's not even so much that I hate rooting for your conference but you are a Kentucky fan, what on earth did you win? thats like rooting for the Yankee's in the WS just because they are in our division.
  18. maybe but its impossible to know for sure, as for me Im done pining over what's done, it was a hell of a game, and hopefully Gilbert got his rookie knocks out early and will hit the ground running next year, his second half performance gives me hope for next year.
  19. I won't say it's cheap, Bama is a hell of a team and they won the game cleanly, but this likely would have been a completely different game if McCoy had been in, but like I said Bama's a good team and it would have been a tough one even if McCoy had been in. I atleast can go away from this game with my head held high as can the rest of the Texas players. Props go out to Bama and Mark "The Beast" Ingram enjoy your victory, Saiban and the rest of the Bama players have been nothing but class.
  20. Congrats to Bama, but I would have liked to see what Texas did had Colt stayed in, can't change that though, and that is taking nothing away from Bama's performance, but you also have to have respect for texas for losing their best player but still making it a game, Colt McCoy is #2 on my list of favorite Football players ever behind only Staubach and it hurts me that he didn't get his chance to play this game.
  21. we almost did, but its damn near impossible to keep Ingram out when its that close.
