  1. Why doe the Sox need 4 1st basemen?
  2. I like Damon. But really, who f***ing cares?
  3. No thanks. I'd rather deal him for a relief pitcher.
  4. What do you think?
  5. So who is the utility infielder?
  6. I hope he has the balls to be able to play in a 34,000 seat fishbowl 81 times a year.
  7. My Son's 360 is 2 years old and still working. But boy does it make noise. The cooling fan sounds like a 737 spooling up. He loves it.
  8. Whatever. 14,000 a game must mean something to the Pacer's bean counters. This discussion is stupid.
  9. Eliminating teams is counter intuitive to the NBA's business model. It makes no sense. Expand the base, make more money. Contract the base, make less money. Which one seems more likely to happen?
  10. I don't have a demographic profile of Indiana at hand. But I'd assume that a State that has a rabid basketball culture would be a good place to have an NBA team. And the fact that the Pacers have enjoyed about 40 years in Indianapolis, supports this idea.
  11. Thank you.
  12. Actually, Suns has a valid point. Basketball in Indiana is HUGE. High school and college ball are roughly the equivalent to football in Texas. It's been that way for as long as I can remember. High school players are seen as Gods. J_E has raised a good question. Why are the Pacers not drawing? My guess is that the Pacers are not winning enough. They simply do not have, as Red Aurbach would say, "The Horses" to win. Hence, 14,000 a game, 76% capacity, and 26th in NBA attendance. Couple that with a very bad economy (Indiana has been hit really hard), and there is just not enough discretionary income to be spent. Might as well go see the Colts. At least they are winning. The idea of disbanding the Pacers is not a good one. The Pacers have been immensely popular since the inception of the ABA. It just makes no sense.
  13. Your respect is noted and appreciated. However, I used Robertson as an example ( I even put it in parenthesis). Why? Roberston was a prolific offensive talent that transcended eras of play. I respectfully submit that if you did not sit courtside and witness the level of talent in the bygone eras, you don't have the ability to judge relative talent. By the way, Robertson would have stuck his big ass into Iverson, knocking him on the floor, squared up and burried a baseline jumper.
  14. Well, I guess if all you are used to is Keystone Light, then maybe you'd have some difficulty appreciating a really good beer. A.I. was a gifted athlete. He was a very talented basketball player. But he did very little to make his team better. Granted, he played on some really s***** teams. He was just too "Me" for my tastes. The ball went through him on every play. And more times than not, went no further. His stats are what they are, in large part, because he controlled the ball. As far as a lock down defender? Really, I would pay to see him try to defend Oscar Robertson (example). That would be funny.
  15. I don't know how anyone could root for A.I.. If you lament the loss of the players you listed, Imagine having seen the '60s, '70s, and '80s. I went to see dozens of games at the Garden in the '70's. There is just no comparison in the level of intensity and competition. Imagine sitting there watching Lucas, DeBushere (sp), Frazier, Monroe, Reid, and Bradley. All on ONE team. Of course the Celts weren't exactly stiffs, either. Cowens, Havlicek, Sanders, Nelson, White, and Chaney. Those were very great games. Most of which were won by the Knicks. But every minute of the game was intense. Like the best of playoff games are now. Even watching teams like The Suns, Pistons, Bulls, Sonics, Kings, and of course, the Sixers were ALLWAYS very entertaining. Every play of every minute. I think this is a lot of what A700 misses. It just does not exist anymore. Add to that, Zone defenses are allowed, walking is allowed, low post play has been de-emphasized (sp), and the dilution of talent, well, the game is just not what it was 30-40 years ago. I respect that people like J_E enjoy the game now. But if you had been around "Back in the Day", you'd likely be in agreement with me. Just my $.02.
  16. I like Suns. He has to pay better attention in English class, but he's a good guy. And he has to stay away from Dad's moonshine.
  17. Youk.
  18. WOW! What a finish! 2-1 Bruins in O.T.
  19. Hey.
  20. Who knows what really happened? But if they both drew down, then I believe that they should both get the boot. It's not exactly a shoving match that could be easily quelled by team mates. They had lethal weapons in hands. Someone could have very easily been hurt. It's not a video game. It's not the hood. It was a place of business. And gun play is not acceptable in that circumstance.
  21. Wow. I can't believe you are saying this. I agree, though.
