  1. At least Drew hit that one hard out to Ichiro. The net is the same as a strike out never the less. At least Brock Holt keeps coming to play each night!
  2. Yes we were expecting to see the Sox feast on this Nuno stiff with his 7+ era. But he must have been salivating in anticipation of throwing to such a weak and unproductive lineup too! Looks like he won out!
  3. Nice snag Bradley. The right field thing may have something to do with cheap shots and even the liner that Gardner hit. But the one Kelly Johnsonhit was hit very hard and would have been a homer anywhere, I think. Wake the hell up Sox!!! Get some hits and runs!
  4. Yes Fred unfortunately you were correct. Drew appears to have been an expensive mistake. I think that the ignore button will serve it's purpose for now. However, I am disappointed because I'd like to think that we are all mature adults here and that we could all get along no matter what. Baseball is a game. I view it as entertainment ( although I seem to care very much about my team ). There really is no good reason to hold a grudge about such trivialities as Drew or X. I would much rather that you both just shrug it off and move on to the next hot topic that does not effect the big picture on the world stage. I'm done with my Rodney King rant. Carry on.
  5. Good evening Gents and VA ! Jacko what makes you think that X will not adjust?
  6. I agree with everything that you said!!!! GO SOX!!!!!
  7. I suspect just more of the same against the Yankees this weekend. But boy would it be nice to see the Sox show everyone that they are not dead yet while exploding for a boatload of runs!!!! I'm sick of Bucholtz and was actually hoping that he was as bad as usual two nights ago!!! Now he has forestalled the process of jettisoning him. So, if he continues to pitch well do the Sox keep him or take advantage of his resurgence and unload him? I'm down with letting the pitching prospects show their stuff for the rest of the season.
  8. I see Nava in a more positive light than most on this board. I think that he is a solid ( not great! ) left fielder in Fenway and maybe just average in other ballparks. I'm speaking of his defense. I think that he has made himself into a good major league hitter ( if only against RHP ). I don't like that he is a platoon player but hey, .300 BA in over 400 PA is sort of valuable, eh? I was hoping that the trip to Pawtucket would allow him to sort out his batting and it appears as though that has happened. If so, then there is one broken piece of last years team that is fixed and should produce. The Bradley issue will work itself out ( beginning to hit or be sent to Pawtucket ) and hopefully very soon! I'm not at all surprised that Victorino is still on the sideline. Hamstring injuries never go away from what I have learned. Last season we were lucky to get as much out of him as we did. I think that to expect him to return to that level of production now is wishful thinking. The more I think of it, the more I believe Ted was right in the off season. The Sox needed to pursue and acquire a RHH outfield bat ( hopefully with some pop ). They did not do this. The choices concerning the formation of the 2014 outfield were poor ones. Now the Sox have an outfield that rarely produces runs. Not that this is THE problem with the Sox offense. The injuries to WMB and in particular Napoli have not helped. Pedroia with his injuries and possible decline have hurt. And despite his knack for timely bombs, Ortiz has not been what we have come to expect. AJ and Ross are exactly what we should have expected. This offense is offensive to a true Red Sox fan. It's an insult, really. But I remain hopeful!!!!! I don't know what else to do!
  9. I don't think that X will be another Bard. Bard's case was an anomaly. He just lost it and then never got it back with the change to starter. Sad and screwed up but that is the way the cookie crumbles ( pun not intended! ) sometimes. I really think that X has just sort of hit a rookie wall or is just in a slump. What made him a hot prospect will return him back to effectiveness. His talent. Also, many people have have made the bar a little too high for him with all the expectations. He is a talented rookie. But a rookie never the less.
  10. I know what you mean! Still, it is the Sox front office that has the power and opportunity to prevent our players from defecting to the Evil Empire. So if we see more migration toward N.Y. the blame should be directed towards them, not necessarily toward the Yankees.
  11. Lol at the description of the opposing pitcher! I don't think that we will see a Laser show tonight but it sure would be nice to see some old Pedey production tonight and for the remainder of the season. He sure has tailed off offensively.
  12. That would be a doomsday scenario. It could, happen but I doubt it. I think that the Yankees know that they will not get far this year and will build for 2015. I bet Lester is a Yankee by then. That will suck.

I hope that you are right Ted. 90 loses is not acceptable in this market. Maybe some will accuse me of being "entitled". I don't think so. I do expect that the Sox will do whatever they can do each year to put a competitive team on the field. That has not happened yet this season. Let's hope for the best.
  14. Possibly. But maybe not until during or after the 2015 season. The situation is very fluid.
  15. Lol. I was hoping to see Exum in Green too!! At least they got Smart. I like that kid's game.
  16. Fred Mike is right. We are all aware that you have been against the Drew signing. As things have turned out, your concerns have been validated by both players slumping. What makes no sense is for you to give posters who though otherwise an ultimatum. Telling other to admit that you were right or you will continue to rant about the subject is childish and undignified of you. You have a lot to contribute to this board and I believe that I can speak for at least several others when I say that I enjoy reading your posts ( weather I agree or not with what you have said ). Please consider giving this issue a rest finally. We all understand what we see by the play on the field. Also, VA is a well liked, respected, and valued PERSON on this board. Please try not to make personal attacks on her. It is unseemly. She does not need me to defend her. I just want you to know that it makes me and probably others unhappy to see her ( and others ) attacked over basically nothing.
  17. This is how I feel. I wanted and expected the Sox to field a competitive team. That has not happened. And the promise of all the young players has not been full filed as yet.
  18. Don't count me as one of those people. I've said that I wanted Drew all along. I was somewhat pleased that he was signed although I don't like the $10 tariff. I did not expect Drew to be a cure-all for the Sox offensive woes. I thought that after a few weeks that he would have his timing at the plate back. His offensive sucktitude has been another reason the Sox can't put big innings together. He has contributed to the problem in stead of contributing to resolving the problem. If they can get rid of him on the cheap and maybe get something back I say make the move. I doubt that the Sox do anything until they see what develops with WMB.

I believe that I suggested Alex Rios!! Seriously, the Sox have the chips to play with. If Rios can be had I say go for it. But only if they intend to compete in the playoffs this year. I know nothing about how much Rios is being paid. I believe it is 13-15 mil through next year. I don't know how his salary would work.
  20. They should have been looking the entire time Victorino has been out. I doubt that they make a splash at the deadline. Most likely they will get more trash like Brian Roberts ( 3rd ) and that scrap piece of crap outfielder in the minors who is so insignificant that I can not remember his name and am not motivated to look because he is a waste of my time. This season is toast.
  21. My memory of Bernie Williams is of him being a sneaky power hitter and being very athletic.
  22. No disrespectful comments from me. iortiz your girlfriend is very pretty. I hope that you have a nice future together.

Yup. When you follow the Sox for as long as we have you tend to "see it all". We have both seen some bad teams and miserable seasons. The 3 World Series wins have sort of clouded my memory of some of the suck that I have seen from the Sox. In any case, this season is really awful because the Sox on paper appear to have most of the pieces to win.
  24. Yes I realize this. And putting him back out there may have a second benefit if he pitches okay. Maybe someone will want him in trade. The Sox have at least 4 young arms to take his place. My guess is at least one of them is ready now to start every 5 days for the Sox.
  25. So if Buch falls on his face again what will the Sox do? I say that they should force him to accept a stint in Pawtucket until he can demonstrate that he has his good stuff back. But that is not likely to happen. He has minor league options I believe. I don't think that the Sox brass has the balls to do this. I'd really prefer that the Sox stick with Workman and De Larosa until they pitch their way out of the rotation. Both of them are an upgrade in performance ( so far ) over Peavy, Dubront, and Buch. With the bulk of the Sox batting order in hibernation I think that it is very important that the best available pitchers start each game and keep things kind of close in the event that the bats produce over 3 runs in any given game. WIN!
