  1. Yeah like Butler cant hit.
  2. Yeah I am a little vague on the details. I saw this excellent documentary on Knuckleballers back about the time Dickey was a Met but before he peaked with them. There is a fraternity of knucklers. Niekro was on the documentary as I recall. They talked about different styles and approaches of Wake and Dickey. It's a wicked cool documentary if you can find it.
  3. Yeah. 50 PA in two months is such a good way to maintain a high level of performance at the plate.
  4. The old time knuckler experts all agree that being able to vary the velocity of the pitch is a huge advantage. The velocity range for Wright's knuckleball is said to be 67-83 mph, I believe. I may be wrong. it could be 57 mph. Either way that is f***ed up s*** right there. How does a batter get his timing down? Wake had only about a 7 mph range from what I recall. Pom is now on the DL. If Wright keeps throwing this way in subsequent starts it will be difficult to remove him from the rotation.
  5. You probably have not heard of Y228. He was an excellent member here on Talksox for several years. Everyone respected him. I have no idea why he stopped posting here. I guess life just happened to him.
  6. Peg Leg will dominate.
  7. I like mid-level acquisitions.
  8. It would make Kimmi happy!
  9. I get a kick out of people saying "partial tear". What does that even mean? Think about it. If you have a tear in a ligament you have ripped it some how. There is nothing "partial" about it. If you completely tear a ligament then it is severed, or ruptured. Whatever. I spell Doughnut not Donut. Never mind. Yankees need some pitching at the deadline.
  10. So where are the guys who called for Wright to be released for pulling a Richard Nixon? Crickets. Excellent effort tonight. Watah.
  11. Is this the elbow that had the platelet injections? Poopy Pant drives me nuts most of the time. But he was 17-6 last year, I think. He may be a dope. I am not sure. I don't know how a guy forgets how to pitch over an off-season. I hope he "recovers" . You can never have too much pitching.
  12. Trolling is a requisite skill on Talksox. I do it with pride. I have learned this skill from truly skilled trolls right here at Talksox. Jacko may rub you the wrong way. Too f***ing bad. Suck it up buttercup, as they say. Stop acting like a 10 year old girl every time Jacko says anything that you disagree with. You guys are boring with your whining.
  13. Yeah he probably was speculating but he does have good info and experience in this stuff. I am hoping for the best. Or Betts!
  14. Who is calling Swi a good defensive catcher? I am just saying that he is not as terrible as many make him out to be and that he needs a chance to play and to refine his skills.
  15. I have no problem with Shill having opinions. I just wish he could have filtered his big mouth so I could have one person on the ESPN games that was interesting to listen to. Instead I have to listen to Mendoza who I don't care for at all.
  16. I'll answer. I have viewed Macholo as a punk all along. I don't like his demeanor. Just my opinion. No, I do not believe Macholo intended to hurt Pedroia. It was a hard slide intended to break up the play. Maybe he slid late and Perdroia got clipped. In any case Macholo is a very good player who I Just have no taste for.
  17. I agree. I also think that Blake has not had ample time behind the plate in MLB to be able to asses his ability to impact a pitcher's performance.
  18. Have you even looked at his batting numbers A+ up until he was injured in 2016? They look okay to me with the usual warts of a young player like a bunch of Ks. As for the 5.9 dWAR, that does seem off but I am no expert on how WAR is calculated. Maybe someone along the way made a mistake in entering numbers in a spreadsheet? You are fishing to condemn a young player with notable athletic skills. He has not had a chance to play regularly since his injury. Up until winter ball this past off-season he could not squat or run without significant pain and impairment. These are facts. As for moving him to catcher from SS when he was drafted maybe the Sox saw that they had no young catchers in the system that projected to hit well and decided to change that. I saw a young player whose athletic ability shouted "move me to another position where I can shine offensively". But that's me.
  19. Yes. Context sure can help.
  20. lol Do you remember the 5 Aces being so dominant in 2015? I certainly don't.
