  1. Have you been to McCoy? It's pretty nice. Not spectacular like the new stadiums you may have seen. But nice and adequate. I do not know where you live. But I live about 2 miles from Rhode Island. I love the place. I love to make fun of it too! Rhode Island is like a huge comedy club. Any time you go there you just laugh and laugh and laugh. It's fun. But it's a minor league state and most likely always will be. I seriously doubt that it will ever offer the kind of success you speak of to any minor league team. Oh. The economy there is very weak.
  2. Well Dojji I can see how you can feel this way to some degree. But the other side of the coin is that so many prospects never realize much if any at all success in the bigs. At some point a team may weigh its options and determine that a current need justifies sacrificing "the possible" down the road. I like the idea of home grown talent very much, don't get me wrong. I want organizational depth at all positions. But those guys are currency that may need to be used to help build a winner one way or another.
  3. Well the headlines have been very misleading because I have seen things like "Red Sox purchase minority ownership of Pawsox" in many places. Even on TV, lol. In any case, I don't see anyone spending the kind of money it will take in land, infrastructure, and construction costs just to be able to say that they own the stadium. Not with the ROI that the Pawsox provide. But you never know. Stupid decisions are made a lot.
  4. Is that so? Aren't the Sox just minority owners of the Pawsox? I wonder what influence the Sox have on this.
  5. I agree. I see no reason to abandon McCoy. It's not like there is money to be made by having luxury boxes.
  6. Alex Gonzales was good too. I would just like to see a long term SS.
  7. Maybe disaster is too strong of a word. Never the less, the position has been less than stable. It would be nice to see XB perform, develop, and stick. I realize that there have been three titles despite the SS revolving door.
  8. I wonder how strong the deal with the City of Pawtucket is? Can they move before 2021 without owing a bunch in penalties? And why move them 10 miles south to Providence? McCoy is a nice venue and is adequate in every way. Dumb.
  9. SS has been a disaster since they unloaded Nomar. The Sox do not have a MLB ready replacement for XB unless the put Hanley there. Oye. XB has not flamed out. He get this year at least to improve. No way they move him without a good replacement in hand. By that I mean no glovey mcnoodle bat guys like Merrero. Or a 19 year old who has never played full season ball.
  10. I was just watching some clips of the kid. He certainly has speed. He LOOKS older than 19. Much older than anyone I have ever known at 19. Whatever. I am wondering how the signing of this kid makes a trade for Hammells imminent or more likely.
  11. Are you sniffing glue again? You are "ok" with sending a starting MLB SS to another team and replacing him with a 19 year old that has never played full season ball and has never lived in the U.S.???? Eye corumba!
  12. I like the Good Doctor but I am very interested to see how this kid fits into the chart!!!
  13. Ugh........... I certainly hope so!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Yup. You ask the right questions. How long is he signed for? $30. mil is a bonus? Okay. What are the Sox paying and for how long? He is 19. Even if he is Mike Trout worthy, he is probably two years away. Hope the Kid learns English.
  15. I've been trying to tell her this!!
  16. No. But My Sister is one of the leading experts on Environment and she knows a s*** ton more than most. So much so that she makes a living traveling the world consulting with countries and industries about the topic. That and she is a Pew Fellow. Maybe she is all wrong but I really doubt it. Her Husband, my Mother, and my Father, have all been or are currently scientists. I grew up in a family of science. I understand most of it. I don't care about Al Gore.
  17. Got that wrong there. It's "I'm not a scientist, I'm not a scientist." And it is preferable to use the phrase "Global Climate Change" especially now when it is so cold. The deniers struggle with science as it is. No way they could ever comprehend how it could be so cold when the climate is warming.
  18. In any case the Sox are stuck with the porker. I'm not buying into the idea that he plays 3rd for one or two years then replaces Ortiz at DH. That job logically should belong to the twat from L.A. since he is one of the best hitters in baseball. No, I see the Nutty Third Baseman triping over himself and going on the DL before his contract is over. But hey. Who the hell cares? The Sox can always buy another third baseman. It seems that 3rd is the new SS. At least for the Sox. By the way. Sandoval looked pretty good in sprints today.
  19. We need a staff kinesiologist on Talksox.
  20. I don't fully understand the one foot in the box thing. Also, if a player swings and fails to put the ball in play it seems that he can still step out and do his ritual OCD adjustment of gloves, testicles, etc. We have at least two major offenders on this team in Pedroia and Ortiz. I think these changes are stupid.
  21. Every few years Talksox debates this issue. It would be cool if any of us had any influence on the topic. Sometime back in the "90s some architect or designer / engineer type came up with a great renovation plan for the current Ballpark. It was a three year deal as I recall. The results were spectacular. The park maintained it's overall charm and feel while being upgraded in every way including capacity. I remember being handed a card asking my opinion while at a game. The old owners decided to stand pat.
  22. The word suburb threw me. I did not even think about the Globe land. I have been aware that "Prune Face" owns the Globe but did not know that he owned the land. To me, Morrisey Blvd is not in the suburbs. It's in Dorchester, I believe. In any case, I wonder if there is enough room in 20 acres. I doubt it.
  23. Mistakes happen Fred.
  24. Where are you talking about cp? I've never heard this. I don't doubt it. I just have never heard this.
