    There are always exceptions to everything. But as I see it quality pitching is necessary to win and to go deep in the playoffs. This team does not have quality pitching and the lineup was never going to carry this team far. So the Sox swung and missed on both for this season, at least.

    I still think he must be in the mix if they brought him up now. But I will not be surprised if he gets traded along with Graig. I hope he hits consistently and sticks with the Sox.

    Sorry. He has been a disappointment so far. I watched Rent A Wreck and Julio Loogie flounder for about this long before I knew they were not meant to be here. My big problem with Fungu Panda is that he makes so much money ( regardless of how anyone justifies it with WAR , post season heroics, or salaries of other 3rd basemen ) and will be here for another 4 years of obesity and substandard play. In my book, players with that kind of price tag should consistently perform much better.

    And the patient and loyal fans know this. He still has loads of promise.

    Hardly the preferred method of building a winning team even if it is not unprecedented. The Sox had the means to build a much better team. Everyone gets it wrong now and then. The Sox have gotten too many things wrong in recent years. With their resources that is pretty much inexcusable.

    That is a sticky question. Does Leone have options? I think it will depend on how Swilhart hits when the decision comes down. The Sox have a ton of catchers in AAA now.

    I'd add Betts, Swilhart, Holt, and ERod to the current list. 8-6!!!!! This game is very winnable.

    Yup. Maybe at this point it is a timing thing as Johnson started last night.

    That's about what I am thinking too. It will be nice to see an outfield with plus defense. Too bad we loose Hanley's bat in this move.

    I wonder what will constitute hitting? Will .240-.250 and about a .300 OBP be enough?

    Hamstring injuries linger as we all know. Hopefully the Sox shut him down early and he can recover without it impacting the bulk of what remains of the season.

    Good question. The Sox need to see what Masterson can do after his lengthy "recovery". We will see!
