  1. And yet the Sox jumped on signing him when no one else seemed to be interested in him. Oh but I understand the reasoning behind it!!!!
  2. I was a big Dice-K critic as some here may remember. At one point I volunteered to go into Boston and smack him in the knees with a bat to get him out of the lineup. But I must say that I admired how he tried to hang on in MLB after the Sox. I thought he would have packed up and gone home to Japan much sooner.
  3. Yeah I can not get enough of that act.
  4. Yeah I have nothing bad to say about Dave Roberts. I would have chosen Kapler but no biggie.
  5. Which makes me think that the Yankees will be in on Price.
  6. I just don't see the Sox demoting and retarding the development of their best pitcher. Seems dumb and unnecessary to me.
  7. I agree on both counts. I said it last summer, they moved De Aza for nothing of value. In my view, they should just have kept him, even after our young outfield came together. Maybe the luxury of having Holt available changed things. I don't know except to say De Aza was pretty good for a 4th outfielder.
  8. I still don't understand why the Yankees or their fans would want to trade Miller.
  9. I don't hate Workman at all. I did not list him because I assumed that he would still be rehabbing at the beginning of the season. I like his "power arm" and hope for the best. He was pretty good in 2013.
  10. Someone will claim him before the Sox.
  11. Yup. Nothing about the Sox is all set. Who the hell mans the pen in 2016????? I count three, possibly four relievers that will be there. Koji, Taz, Kimbrel, and possibly Ross. Will Layne be there? Will Wright be healthy? I don't see how acquiring "a#1" and one reliever makes this team good to go.
  12. I see Lackey as a #2 at worst. He'd be a big upgrade for the Sox staff. Offer him 2/38. Done.
  13. Even though it may seem to be just a romantic idea based on sentimentality, I like this idea. I've been thinking about this since about mid-season. The Sox have a track record of taking fliers on duds for the pen. Another failure and who cares? I wonder how well Lincecum would pitch in a new league?
  14. I suggested lackey for the Sox a while back. Somehow I doubt that the Sox are interested.
  15. I think that Price could put up with the scrutiny. He seems to like the attention. He's no wall flower.
  16. Same here. But then he has said that he wants to go out not sucking, I think. On his terms.
  17. Everyone has an opinion.
  18. I mentioned noticing this phenomena first!!!!!! Although I did not spell it all out. Making that trade would not have been my 1st or even any move. The pen and rotation both suck ass. I would have started by addressing the rotation first or maybe acquiring a relief pitcher of lesser notoriety. The moderate investment / known quantity and pitches well most of the time that is a non-closer. That did not happen and while I understand that the Sox may have paid one upper level prospect too much, well, what is it that Doris Day used to say? f*** it. It's milk over the dam at this point. I can complain but why? It's just boring to hear people go on about it and to have to see the open questioning of whether I get it it. Those people give themselves far too much credit as if they only understood all of this. Laughable.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ "Chapman is projected to earn $12.9MM in 2016 by MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz. That will be Chapman’s final year of club control before free agency, so with one year of control at top-of-the-market money, he comes with less trade value than Frazier. Nevertheless, it’s easy enough to envision a team being willing to part with an MLB-ready asset and another lower-level piece or two in order to secure a season of Chapman’s 100mph+ dominance." If so, maybe the deal for Kimbrel can be seen in a more positive light.
  20. I have stated my opinions on those deal several times. There is no need to re-hash that crap again. Both moves were far from ideal.
  21. You saved me the effort! Thanks!
  22. I agree. I think that while his elbow is a question mark to some extent, many teams will be dumb enough to believe that Buch will be something he has not been to date. A good pitcher over a sustained period of time. But oh that "stuff".
  23. For the record, I don't believe that I have said that the trade was equitable. I suspect that one top guy and the two lower level guys should have been enough. But it did not end up that way for some reason. DD seems to see more value in a stopper of a closer than 4 prospects. He is the boss making those decisions so I will cede to his judgment. Again, the net is that the Sox are a better team today. Weather we see Kimi's nightmare scenario where DD empties the farm and/or can not trade for THE key player because he does not have the chips remains to be scene. In the meantime we should at this point have some faith and enjoy the fact that the Sox are poised to right this ship pretty soon. If not 2016, then maybe 2017. Last place is not where this team should be in 2016.
  24. Which would go to prove that a fool and his money are soon parted. I don't believe that many teams would make such a "hefty" financial commitment to a part time player.
