  1. Why? I too hate big contracts especially for "aging" vets. Do you have inside info that says that EE will not perform up to his 100 mil contract? I must have missed that memo.
  2. I'm glad that you have taken your Geritol.
  3. Good. I much prefer your unwavering support for Fatboy.
  4. And that worked out so well.
  5. Oh hell no!!!! We got a good relief pitching prospect out of it!!!!1!!!
  6. It was one of the best games that I have seen this year.
  7. What is your point? I merely suggested that it is unlikely to be able to sustain year to year success and grab a championship while spending so little. Obviously that is a difficult concept to understand. Sorry.
  8. A star pitcher at 121 pitches. Bochy said his guys wre lined up and ready to go. They did not get the job done. It happens. That is baseball.
  9. Maybe. I used to do a s*** ton of market research and analysis for business. I don't have enough interest in this subject to delve into it ( plus I have no financial incentive ). I suspect the demographics are far from ideal in the Tampa market.
  10. So? Have any of these teams had sustained success over, say, the last ten years? Each one of them is capable of putting a team on the field that looks like a winner for about 1 year and then it all evaporates. They need to have the money available to sustain success. Either that or they all have really s***** baseball operations.
  11. Is he really THAT bad? Enough so to keep his bat on the bench in NL parks? Weaksauce.
  12. One has to wonder what the Ray's payroll would look like IF a new stadium were built. Does that causeway to St. Pete actually dissuade enough fan from attending games that it suppresses the payroll or is there just apathy for baseball in the region? The Rays do a good job of putting an entertaining team on the field. But with a $70. mil payroll it may take divine intervention for them to sniff a title again.
  13. I hope so. I wonder what the Jays will offer him. And how about the Yankees? As a Sox fan I am susceptible to falling for the idea that anything my team wants it will get. That may not be the case here. Is there another player that would provide so much of what is now gone that EE? And, he can play in the field. No more worrying about how to field a decent lineup without a DH in inter-league away games.
  14. I did not state that he was worthless. I just remember Sox fans clamoring to go get him as if he were the missing link. I don't thing he is THAT great.
  15. About the only reason that I would live there!
  16. Oh but doing so will damage our precious pipeline of burgeoning studs! The thing is that DD SHOULD make a big splash in free agency to supplant the loss of Ortiz's bat while this team still has most of it's skilled core. The window for a World Championship will close quickly. Strike while the fire is hot, as it were.
  17. I do. 4/100.
  18. Here's why.
  19. Theo is a mad man in the clubhouse. His eyes are going to be f***ed.
  20. McCann is over rated.
  21. This definitely happened to JBJ last year. I too have faith that he will have it corrected by spring training.
  22. I don't know about that. Toronto could be really tough at home. Oh wait. HFA is not significant!!!!!
  23. What's the deal with the giant Ws? What toes it represent? Wrigley?
  24. Theo can breath again.
