So that list is long and juicy I take it? I say don't f*** with what isn't broken. If a clear upgrade is not available then keep the guy you have. I don't buy that the grass is necessarily greener with another guy.

By far the majority of good athletes in my high school were multi-sport stars. They were usually the best player in at least one of three sports.

That guy is remarkable. I can't believe he is still playing. He had great talent the night I was at the Garden when he came down from a dunk and blew his knee out.

I say it will be determined by what other schlock will be available and at what price. I doubt very much that the Sox will splurge here. And dropping another $20 mil or so for 4 years would be really dumb. Moreland won't set the world on fire but he is decent at 1st and he does hit some long balls. Even with a reasonable raise he would be worth it. And he has not exactly played himself into a strong bargaining position this season. I doubt that he will have many suitors.

I'm old school so I think 100 pitch count is for pussies. But I do understand that now days arms are abused starting at 10 years old and these guys make millions of dollars. Got to protect those assets! f*** that s***. Give me Dean Chance or Vida Blue. They will throw over 300 innings

Baseball is not serious about discouraging these brawls. If they were serious there would be real consequences for beaning and plunking batters and the fighting that sometimes results from it. Suspend them a month without pay and tell them that if they get injured while fighting that they must pay for all medical care and rehab expenses incurred. Baseball encourages this s*** by allowing the so called unwritten rules to exist. Nunez swung too hard at a pitch so you plunk him? What kind of pussy-ass s*** is that? How about being a f***ing adult and do your job throwing strikes you dumb s***. Oh he showed me up running the bases and with his bat flip. Oh my f***ing Gawd these guys are weak as water. Just play the f***ing game, buy another expensive toy and shut the f*** up.

And this is what I am saying, essentially. If he were a .300 30/30 guy still I probably would not complain about him. So far in almost three seasons we have gotten one good season out of him. Waste of money.

Not recently. He is a 250 hitter with occasional power. And he is no longer fast. A bahgain at only $22. mil.

Maybe. But one thing that annoys several members that I have spoken with is having their ideas poo-pooed by people who believe their own ideas are beyond reproach because they have seen some statistic or study. These people insult others by being inflexible and never for a single moment acknowledge that they may not be correct. Then for the cherry on top they get pissed off and say that they have been insulted. We never had this sort of problem before on Talksox. I don't speak for everybody but a handful of posters that I communicate with have voiced similar opinions to me recently. I don't see any utility in the ignore function. I just don't read or respond to their posts and hope that they will lose interest in Talksox.

I always note these things. There are plenty of inarticulate white players. Off the top of my head would be Buch. He always sounded like a goof. Mike Lowell is in contrast, a very articulate man. It has nothing to do with skin color.

Cavs did get the better in the deal. Short term anyways. I can't see them trading that pick. The Celt's roster is much different having lost 11 of 15 from last seasons playoff team. They have a long way to go to being a cohesive unit. I don't expect the best from them for the first 30-40 games.

Just saw a brief interview of Davis on the pre-game show. That guys seems mature and professional. Very articulate. Both Dombrowski and Farrell have had good experiences with him. Dombrowski had been looking at getting Davis for several weeks. That may help answer a700s question.
