Yeah just because he does not count towards the cap he does remain a noticeable chunk of the budget for player salaries.

Elephants are fast as well. They look goofy as f*** running. On the other hand Johnny Damon looked violently fast, JE looked like a gazelle, Coco Crisp looked like a cheetah, etc. I realize Devers is your Binky so give it a rest big guy.

I had not considered him. I don't even know his contract status. But if he has 2-3 arb years remaining what is the advantage in signing him early? He is another one who really has not established who he is either in my opinion. He has had one good calendar season and that is it.

Has anyone else noticed Dever's odd gait while running? He runs like Boog Powell with his chest all distended. It's no big deal, really. He just looks funky to me. Don't get me started on those chipmunk cheeks.

I feel the same way as you. I think Machollo is a punk -ass bitch with a poor complexion and a big mouth. Great player and anyone would want his talent. In a vacuum I would want him on my team. But in a vacuum you can't smell his stench. I want players on my team who I can like and admire as people. -
That's right. This is an opinion board. Not a high school debate. No one here knows anywhere near everything about baseball. Although I do come very close! It is very irritating when someone proclaims this and that and insists that what they say is fact. Acting this way is in my mind extreme douche bagery. Insisting that someone else is wrong because you have no ability to see that you may be wrong is just f***ed for any adult.

I don't see why you believe there is a good chance Hanley will hit better next year. He will be a year older and he shows no signs of a resurgence. How long does it take for a sore shoulder to mend? we are going on the third year now. I say dump the sloth when the time comes.

Thanks. No. I believe that Bogey just plain tuckered out last season. Maybe I'm wrong but it sure seems to have been that way. As far as the 4 Killer Bees are concerned, I'm not sure we have established what any of them "are" going forward except possibly JBJ who while prone to streaks both good as well as bad, appears to be at least consistent in that trend. I'm not advocating signing him early either. Let these guys earn their keep. They can put up or shut up.

Where did you get this idea? I live here and have never heard the idea that Farrell delayed Dever's promotion to the bigs. And how do you know that one is so good at developing young talent and the other sucks? Again, I have never heard that before. Just seems to be your opinion ( which is fine ) as opposed to verifiable fact.

I don't see any urgency in signing guys before it is necessitated by pending free agency. None of them are inclined to give any kind of home town discount so what is to be gained? On the other hand, blowing your load on a guy earlier in the game ( see Big Dick as possible example ) has it's risks. Suppose that they do sign Betts to an extension this year and he continues to be a .260 hitter with a good glove instead of the spectacular MVP type player he was a year ago? What is to be gained by that? Spending money unnecessarily is f***ing dumb especially when this team has wasted so much money in current contracts.

I think so too. The Fatboy and Hanley signings were really dumb but blowing up a good rotation was beyond stupid. I have yet to hear one reasonable explanation for why that happened. To me, these moves negate anything positive he may have had a hand in doing regarding the farm system. Kudos for poking Wendy Nix.

I'm with you on this but Ben was the GM so blame or credit stands with him. Neither of them is a great talent evaluator.

But the big brains on this board have proven that momentum leading into the playoffs is not an advantage just as home field advantage does not exist.
