Papelbon was going where the money was. That was determined a long time ago based on how he handled his arbitration years. Good luck building a bull pen that you can win with by not giving guys more than 2 years.

Why has McQueary not been axed as well? What he did was worse than Paterno.

He plays hurt because he gets hurt every damn year. The injuries the past 3 season are amounting up big time. I think management needs to look long and hard at what they can get for him in the trade market.

That money is pretty much going to be put to use for Adrian's and Carl's bumps in salary for 2012.

Seguin is NASTY. Kid is legit and he's still only 19. Nice to see Looch bounce back after a rough first 6 games. 6 goals and 4 assists in his last 6. The B's with 2 nice showings after a brutal October.

No thanks on Willingham. 33 year old outfielder who isn't very good with the glove. Add in the fact that he misses a lot of games and he's a Type A guy looking for 3 years and he's a pass for me.

Obviously I'm not judging an entire season on one play but I'm just digging at Ellsbury because I don't believe he's the best defensive player at his position.

Agreed. Ellsbury isn't the best defensive CF in the AL.

Iglesias and his .554 OPS has a lot to improve upon offensively if he is to assume a full time role in the bigs.

Good no-brainer move here. Funny how almost everyone here has changed their tune on Scutaro.

My off-season wish list: Re-sign Papelbon Move Bard into the rotation (Aceves would be another option but he's very valuable in his relief role) Dump Tek Dump Wake Explore trade options for Beckett Bring back Ortiz for 1 year (if he doesn't like it, let him walk and take the picks) Move Youk to DH and let him be the backup for CI (also, explore his trade value on the market) Unlikely to happen but I would like them to try and land a LEGIT Ace in MLB. I would move Ellsbury to land someone like that

Wouldn't mind bringing him in here on a one year incentive laden deal. It would be good for the player and the team. Gives him a season to prove he can stay healthy and be productive.

It's not up to the team to step up their program. It's up to the individual players to take pride in what they do and get into shape.

I know that he had a clause in his contract that says the team would hold a 2015 club option at the major league minimum if they wanted to bring him back.
