They traded Sale for Grissom, not Ketel Marté. If they needed hitting, they should have gotten it. Grissom will be a question mark until he actually produces at the MLB level. I'd rather go with him than the other guys they have, but that's not saying much.

As the weather gets better, the Big 3 are getting hotter.
Stats in the month of May:
Mayer - 75 PA - .294/.347/.471/.817 - 1 HR - 9 2 B - 133 wRC+
Anthony - 71 PA - .283/.380/.483/.864 - 1 HR - 7 2B - 147 wRC+
Teel - 56 PA - 354/.446/.521/.967 - 1 HR - 5 2B - 181 wRC+
Not sure if it's the "payroll department" or just their own internal player valuation where they assign a dollar value to each player and don't go over it an inch.
Duran - LF
Rafaela - CF
Anthony - RF
Abreu - 4th OFer
Refsnyder - 5th OFer
The only near term filler from the minors would possibly be Lugo, but that guy has had a very volatile development track and his defense is really LF only at this point. Castro, Bleis and others are still in A ball and lower with uncertain timetables and projections.
I wonder if Imanaga cools off after teams see him the second time. Wheeler is running a career low BABIP right now, but he's having an amazing post age 30 run.
He's cheap for the next few years. Enjoy him as long as he's playing well. Guys like him don't typically age well so just keep him around until FA.
Unless you're getting an ace back, why would you move him at this point?
Last year, he has a pitching run value that was 52nd percentile. It's now 99th. He was fine last year, but not really Chris Freakin' Sale. We'd all be over the moon if we got vintage Sale one more time in Boston.
We weren't gushing the past few years because he was injured or struggling to come back. Most people realize there are still underlying concerns with Sale, you're just annoyed that not every pro-Sale post isn't littered with concerns about his health. We don't need to worry about his health anymore because he doesn't pitch for the Red Sox. If he's great, we can enjoy it from afar.
One bad contract doesn't sink a high budget team like what the Sox should be.
@SoxNotes
Ceddanne Rafaela leads the Red Sox with 25 RBI, most among MLB rookies.
With a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, he has driven in at least 1 run in 11 of 15 opportunities.
.417 AVG
1.083 SLG
16 RBI
2 home runs
2 doubles
1 single
3 sac flies
3 RBI groundouts/FC
Imagine if he was still here pitching like this, every 5th day would be "well, why weren't you guys splooging on Chris Sale Day the last few years?!?!?!?!?"
Bard started sucking at the end of 2011 right before conversion.
9/1 - 10/1/11: 10.64 ERA, 5.01 xFIP, 11 IP, 13 ER, 11 H, 9 BB, 11 K, 1.82 WHIP, 4 L
Daniel Bard ruined 2011 for the Red Sox and put them on the downward spiral we are on today.
A lot of very smart posters thought Crawford was underrated coming into this year and that he had a chance to breakout. Houck will probably just get injured at some point.
