    Fielding a playoff team: pass They need a guy to lead the staff, either Lester or Shields would be fine. They also need a #2 guy. They will probably be paying out the nose. They wouldn't need to if any of the pitching prospects met their ceiling (Webster, Renaudo (Aka Calvin Schiraldi 2.0), RDLR, etc).

    I agree, they are a wealthyteam and can't cry poor. They just aren't a "big market" in terms of population size. They are more like a "rich market" team. When ownership complains about the evil empire and that BS, it's embarassing.

    Well, there are 13 clubs with larger markets than Boston, so strictly in terms of "market size" they are in the middle. Sox fans are just more likely to pay higher ticket prices to keep their team's salary limits towards the top of the league.

    You wanted to bet money that he'd sign with the Sox at 6/120 a few weeks ago. Now you are saying he wouldn't have signed for that last year. Did he lose value over the last 12 months?

    They offered less than $100M last year. He'll sign for $150+. A competitive offer of 6/120ish would have most likely got the deal done last year. 4/70 is a garbage offer.

    If the Sox don't sign Lester, they are stupid and can get f***ed. They should have stopped dicking him around last offseason. Clearly 6/120 isn't going to cut it. They could have signed him for a lot cheaper last offseason but were too busy dry humping the WS trophy to care about the future of the team. Oh well.

    Forget Bogaerts for a moment. Farrell has ruined Mookie Betts! He's hitting a paltry .167. Shoulda never been brought up to MLB. Just throwing him in RF/CF/wherever the wind blows. This is madness and it has to stop! Worst manager since Butch Hobson! At leadt Butch had a drug addiction we could blame. This guy just gets jealous of all this hot new talent and wants to set it all on fire with his Stephen Drew fetish. Look bub, just because you were an MLB flameout doesn't mean you have to take it out on all the young guys in this organization. Pathetic.

    People bitching about a bullpen guy with a sub 2.00 ERA who has had a great year... No wonder people don't post here anymore. Farrell only has 11-12 pitchers at any given time. Koji and Taz can't go 3 innings everyday.
