  1. You are comparing a platoon bat to fulltime players. If Cora believed in his bat as much as you do, why'd he give him 100 less PA's in '25? His SLG dropped almost 100 points against 4 seamers last season. His xSLG is trending downwards against 4 seamers. It was the first year he had a negative run value against that pitch as a Red Sox. He'll be 35 and some players age quick. He did say he was thinking of retiring at one point.
  2. They can be on it for the whole season. The following year, they need to be on the active roster for only 90 days, I believe.
  3. I like Ref and he still put up good metrics. Only worry to me is that he struggled against velo in '25 and it may be downhill from here.
  4. Having face to face conversations is scary. 🫣
  5. What they lose is offseason 40 man space. It makes sense for a struggling team to grab him, stash him and then only have to keep him on the MLB roster for a partial season in '27. For the Sox, they need the 40 man flexibility more than they need Monegro.
  6. Sandlin 90% Monegro 33% (long time to keep him on the 40 man with no BOS benefit) Uberstine 33% Mullins 25% Drohan 15% Paez 1% Rivera 1% Song 1%
  7. I believe Song and Drohan if picked again would not have to be returned to the Sox. I don't think there's any chance Song is added. Drohan being added is like 15%.
  8. WE don't get a say. Until people start bullying JH again, we'll get our slop and have to like it.
  9. Yeah, they are making excuses for him. He lost weight during the year, but all players do. I don't think that's the reason he flat out stunk. Rib injury started the decline. He never picked himself up out of it afterwards. Why didn't he lose weight in previous seasons?
  10. Sale averaged less than 50 IP the previous 3 seasons. Can't get much for that! Have to settle for some measly 2b.
  11. 2b has been the last position they've worried about filling every season. They don't care about it.
  12. If I had to wager what the Sox did: Breggie 5/something Duran traded for prospects BOS/MINN prospects traded for Ryan (extended in ST) Hoskins 1/cheap
  13. The question marks with Campbell were defense and ugly swing that could potentially be exploited at higher levels.
  14. Roman didn't have any slowdowns after he was pushed to GRE. No big injury concerns. Most people thought he had the best k zone awareness and could fit into MLB better than the other two. The only problem was the Sox had Rafaela/Duran/Abreu. That didn't stop the Sox from using Campbell in the OF a bunch early on in '25 though.
  15. Anthony was the most ready. Mayer had the best spring. Kristian signed the extension. They went with Kristian because he played ball with FO. 🤔
  16. Well maybe in that respect sure. Diehard Duran supporters are probably still against a trade today even though evidence should be very clear that it would make sense to move either him or Abreu to make the team better. Other teams value Duran highly so the Sox would get a better return. Trade Duran!
  17. Maybe? I don't really remember that because it's almost been a foregone conclusion that they've had to trade Abreu or Duran.
  18. If Mayer is at 3b and they don't sign a 2b, the platoon ends up being Romy at 2b. His arm isn't good enough to play 3b. Mayer becomes the fulltime 3b with not platoon.
  19. I find that hard to believe. Either he or Abreu was considered trade bait last offseason because of Anthony's proximity. It was a conversation we had for months.
  20. You initially said the complaint was that the Sox waited too long to call prospects up, but revised it to say it's just sometimes people say may a certain player should be called up. It's just two completely different issues that's all. 🙃
  21. This is why I'd be surprised if they went long on Alonso.
  22. Might have well kept the better player (Devers) at that price point.
  23. If they aren't moving Story in '26, why move him next year? If anything, you'd move him over for higher caliber Mayer.
  24. SEA needs to pay a premium to attract hitters? IDK. I wouldn't have been happy if the Sox signed Naylor for that.
