  1. Keep Machado at 3B. Move Devers to 1B. THIS IS THE RARE TIME I'D WANT TO DO THIS.
  2. You'd rather compete with 20+ other teams that would want him?
  3. @EvanDrellich Source: Carson Smith, Red Sox agree to $850,000 salary for 2018, avoiding arbitration.
  4. How often are MLB players traded for with a player extension already lined up? How would the Sox go about saying "we'll trade for Machado if we can guarantee he re-signs"?
  5. In 2009, Game 7 of the 2001 World Series was chosen by Sports Illustrated as the Best Postseason Game of the Decade (2000–2009). Can someone remind me what happened that game? I don't remember.
  6. Remember when Josh Beckett won the WS with a complete game shut out in Yankee stadium?
  7. As far as I know it's still our division to lose. The Sox own the AL East right now. Since 2001: Red Sox are 3 - 0 in WS appearances Yankees are 1 - 2 in WS appearances
  8. It wasn't like when they put a slow lumbering Youkilis in the OF just for shits and giggles. With Swihart, there was an expectation that it would work.
  9. The reasonable expectation was "Swihart was good enough to almost be Team USA's starting SS (thanks Lindor), so he should be fine in LF."
  10. Jacko is always a little bit crazier when the Yankees are better. This is good for TS.
  11. The following 24 hrs would be the greatest offseason baseball talk the Sox have ever had. DD would see the ban and realize it was now time to strike obv.
  12. I don't believe he was "moved off of catcher" per se. I think they wanted to see what value he had. Wright is a pitcher who doesn't practice running the bases and shouldn't be expected to be able to do so adequately. Him being used as a pinch runner is not similar to having Swihart play LF at all.
  13. I can't agree to this. I think DD and Farrell both saw upside in grooming Swihart's bat to fit other positions. He would have gained a ton of value if he could have played C for 60 games and LF for 80 games. Accidents happen. It's not DD's fault that Swihart broke himself. Kimmi, you are making the same argument that SBF made in regards to my boy Ryan Kalish. He stated that "well if Kalish wasn't playing in PAW, he wouldn't have gotten hurt." Kalish was just as likely to get hurt playing OF at Fenway. As such, Swihart was just as likely to be injured playing C for BOS as he was for playing LF. s*** happens.
  14. I'm not sure many people would be surprised if Judge has a big sophomore slump this year.
  15. But if the Yankees are so great this year that they are guaranteed a ring, why would he consider leaving? Smarter play is to just sit back and collect those fat playoff checks. The players' pool is formed from 50 percent of the gate receipts from the Wild Card Games; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first three games of the Division Series; 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the League Championship Series; and 60 percent of the gate receipts from the first four games of the World Series. The players' pool was divided among the 10 Postseason Clubs: the two World Series participants, the two League Championship Series runners-up, the four Division Series runners-up and the two runners-up in the Wild Card Games. The 2017 players' pool was a record total of $84,500,432.15, eclipsing last year's $76,627,827.09. 60 Astros players made at least $439k from the playoffs last year.
  16. People know he had a down season due to injury. Once he was rested, he started playing great in fall ball. He deserves another chance.
  17. Dombrowski not acting very desperate by believing in Swihart rather than trading him!
  18. Barely. Realmuto - 12.5 dWAR (.0887 per game) Vazquez - 9.4 dWAR (.0949 per game) would be 13.4 dWAR at Realmuto's playing time (which could actually drop off since Vaz is more rested and could be worse if playing 141 games).
  19. Posts like this should be cause for 7 day ban. 1. Title is clickbait. 2. Post is not in the correct forum.
  20. Dombrowski is at the B’s game tonight INSTEAD OF SIGNING THE FA’S WE NEED!
  21. I think 5/150 sounds about right. I think they are willing to overpay for less years. If JD mashes for 5 years, he'll have another good payday after. Right now, Sox are just bidding against themselves which is why Boras was floating out the "he wants to really play OF" angle to increase the number of interested teams.
