As an MLBer, your body physically declining by 1-2% is a massive shift though. That would get you out of the game by age 35 for many players. Only the greats are hanging on after then and it's mainly due to name recognition to sell tickets.
He also has a nice LD and GB rate and really works RF/CF which is the largest part of Fenway. If he was a flyball hitter, it wouldn't be ideal. For Donovan, it could work to his advantage.

He would need to repeat '23-25 in order to get into the HOF. If he falls back at all, he has no shot.
There would be an injury somewhere and he can play 2b, ss, 3b. There'd be room. I don't think they are adding that many guys this offseason though. I think it's not going to be a game of musical chairs.
They can afford it. They don't want to. We understand they don't want to. We are trying to figure out how to work within their dumb budget. JH wants the Sox to be a midmarket team while raking in big market #3 revenue dollars. It's just the reality we find ourselves in. It's the same way in Texas. 🫠
