  1. Kiké has spent the vast majority of his career hitting either 1st or 7th - 8th. His WRC+ is the same for 1st and 8th. His numbers are about the same at both spots. My guess is that he doesn't have a preference for where he hits, but Cora likes his skillset at leadoff.
  2. What about the 4th start? .2 Innings, 6 ER. Over his last 5 starts, only 1 went longer than 4.1.
  3. Verdugo was great at it last year.
  4. @SoxProspects Per MiLB website transactions, the Red Sox made a round of cuts from the minor leagues, releasing the following players: OF Caleb Ramsey RHP Yoelvis Guedez RHP Kevin Biondic RHP Reed Harrington RHP Richardson Jimenez RHP Hunter Haworth IF/OF Jagger Rusconi
  5. Fabian having a 32% k rate IN COLLEGE, isn't a good look.
  6. After 10 starts last year, the Padres threw him to the pen. Sox may need to be more proactive than that.
  7. Everyone should discuss what they are thinking has merit. Saying "well, Bloom/Cora knows more than you or I" or "who cares, they are winning" really just stifles conversation.
  8. That's what I'm saying!
  9. Perez and Pivetta have looked better than Richards. Maybe just move Richards into a relief role until his mechanics are figured out?
  10. But how about the lineups I'm comfortable with? That has merit too.
  11. They lead in runs because the BABIP is unsustainably high for some of the hitters. They don't lead in runs because Kiké hits a leadoff HR and then goes 4 AB's without getting on base.
  12. Shifts are fine. K's are fine. Just decrease the time between pitches and the game would be more enjoyable.
  13. No f***ing clue. Makes no damn sense.
  14. The percentage of at bats in which the ball is not put in play (home runs, walks, strikeouts, hit batters) is up to 38%. And yet he's still blaming the shift. WTF?
  15. He didn't want to say "guy in his 30's could no longer hit a fastball."
  16. From the article: Meanwhile, evidence that the shift is harming careers and the entertainment value of the game continues to mount. Entering this week, the major league batting average was .233, the third-lowest April batting average in the 102 years of the live ball era (1943, 1968). Batting average on balls in play is down to .286, the lowest in 29 years. Hits are at an all-time low. Strikeouts are at an all-time high. Strikeouts aren't at an all time high because of the shift. We're here because of the launch angle. Honestly, I don't think the shift affects pace of play. If you want to beat the shift, learn to hit the other way. The shift has been around since Ted Williams.
  17. He's been on the ban the shift train for a long while now.
  18. And that should help the team about 10 times this year. I'd rather a guy that is more likely to get on base in front of JD/Xander/Raffy.
  19. They won't, but they should. Verdugo was great as leadoff/RF last year. They should have realized that players are notoriously superstitious and left him in those two spots for all of 2021.
  20. It's only working right now because some people have gotten extremely lucky. Why tempt fate and continue to put out lineups that could be improved upon? I mean, you are saying that the lineups will be fixed at some point. Why not do that now?
  21. It's true. Kiké's career 312 OBP shows that he should definitely be hitting leadoff.
  22. Should they maximize the potential of that lineup before they regress? Hell NO!
  23. What is the difference between an imperfect lineup and an imperfect rotation? In Cora we trust.
  24. The Sox have the best record in the AL. They are still winning with Richards' poor control. No reason for him to work on it since they are winning all the other games. Bloom likes that this guy looks all types of wrong this year. In Bloom we trust.
