  1. @jcmccaffrey In May, Red Sox 2019 fourth-rounder Noah Song is eligible to seek an early release from active duty with the Navy in exchange for a six-year commitment to the Naval Reserve. As of right now there no updates and the Red Sox are continuing to support him in flight school. Last I heard was that May was the earliest he could get out, but that he's not fast tracked his workload that way. Maybe he'll get a peak towards the end of the season, but it's more likely we don't see him until 2022.
  2. There's no chance they are all 100% healthy or this productive. I would agree that Perez could get the boot, but maybe they'd just work Sale in the way they currently use Whitlock?
  3. Aside from the betting scandals of the 1920's, people put on the Ineligible List include: Fergie Jenkins - drugs and being a cool dude, reinstated Mays/Mantle - working at casinos and being cool dudes, reinstated Rose - betting, should be reinstated but won't be because he's a dickbag Steinbrenner - hiring a PI to investigate Dave Winfield, reinstated Steve Howe - 7 drug related suspensions, reinstated Marge Schott - being a ******** racist and sexist scumf***, reinstated Jenry Mejia - PED 3 strike rule, reinstated Chris Correa - STL scouting director that hacked into HOU database, sentenced to 46 months in jail John Coppolella - Braves GM that circumnavigated INTL signing restrictions Brendon Taubman - HOU Assist GM/former McKinsey consultant creep who joked about DV to female reporters
  4. @jay_jaffe Roberto Alomar now has the dubious distinction of being the only Hall of Famer on the ineligible list. Willie Mays and Mickey Mantle were briefly banned in the mid-'80s because they were hired as greeters at Atlantic City casinos but the Hall took no action.
  5. Roberto Alomar will have his association with the Blue Jays severed. His HOF banner will be taken down due to sexual assault allegations.
  6. I think it means he was very likely open to negotiations in the 19-20 offseason.
  7. No, I'd have to increase the AAV if that was included. I'm also not much of a cuddler.
  8. You said: "Do we know there was no counter? Not every aspect of a negotiation makes the papers." We can only respond with things we know actually happened. We can't just say "well maybe they did make an offer and it just wasn't reported." It makes no sense. I'd be very surprised if the Sox made a counter offer and didn't leak it to the press since they have seemingly leaked every little thing to the press ever since they s*** canned Tito a decade ago.
  9. Ok. I would have made it worth his while to stay.
  10. Obviously, we know the reason he was traded was that ownership didn't feel comfortable with Betts' price point and we can assume that 30M annually was their top dollar. They decided it was worth it to sell a year of Betts for multiple years of Verdugo and prospects and the risk of Betts signing elsewhere. The only real questions are: should they have traded him and did the receive adequate value back? To me, if they weren't going to sign him for anything higher than their original offer, then you just have to trade him. However, if I owned the team I would have worked a little harder to keep him around. Theoretically, I say the shouldn't have traded him. Was the value they received back worth the one year of Betts? For sure. I understand "why" they traded him and agree that the trade was a good trade. However, I don't think they should have let it get to that point.
  11. Do we know that Betts didn't counter with "I'll take 31M annually"???????????????? Nobody cares about the "other" site. If you loved it some much, you shouldn't have let it die the way Henry let contract negotiations die with Mookie.
  12. Just like if you were Betts' momma you would have told Betts to take 300M... I've heard that a lot around here. It's just excuse making for a bad decision by Henry. Not even going back with a counter offer is embarrassing.
  13. At the start of my kids' season (January), there were only a handful of kids in the entire league that wore masks at all. My 6 year old wore one for a few weeks and then would just take it off since she's allowed to not wear a mask outside at school. My 9 year old wore his for most of the season and was probably the last child in the league to take his off. For us, we knew the risk were minimal, but wanted to do our absolute best until my wife's grandfather was vaxxed.
  14. Mookie was traded because John Henry is a cheap bastard who didn't want to pay Betts an extra 6M a year.
  15. NBA needs to allow players to actually play defense. The game is too ticky tack now.
  16. And the desperation the Phillies had last year... Teams are usually less desperate in the offseason.
  17. I would have been ok with them just getting Seabold for those two. Pivetta was a buy low guy. He's worked out well.
  18. ^^^ is pro MVP’s veggie dog plan for MLB.
  19. They can get better, but their winning % won’t.
