  1. I was counseled that if I stayed in public accounting, that I would not have a home life and would miss my kids growing up.
  2. He was in the teens at the start of the year at SoxProspects, he's down in the 20's now. Maybe he goes back up at some point?
  3. And there are always decent 1b's sitting on bottom of the barrel teams that would be cheap to trade for. It should be one of the easiest positions to fill.
  4. Same. My birthday is the week of Thanksgiving though. I remember a classmate who was a Xmas baby too. When I went off to college, Richmond had a curfew for anyone less than 18. Theoretically, I couldn't be outside anytime after 8pm. (Yes, this was back when Richmond had a high murder rate and it was just another thing to try to keep people off the streets.)
  5. Maybe? https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/bobby-dalbec-666915?stats=statcast-r-fielding-mlb
  6. They like Kiké at 2b better? Good to give Arroyo some work at 1B regardless?
  7. Santana is getting activated today with Arroyo possibly going on the IL.
  8. Does Bobby make this play: https://twitter.com/tylermilliken_/status/1415127908444786691
  9. If Arroyo can play an adequate 1B, Cordero stays down all year.
  10. I don't believe he is a catcher. Again, we'll have to see how the rest of the season goes. If he continues to mash like he has done recent, they won't let him go. If he hits like June?
  11. Santana -.4 fWAR Cordero -.3 fWAR
  12. Do AA stats translate 1/1 to MLB now? What would Vaz hit in POR this year? 1000 OPS? Vaz also is a good catcher, Hernandez isn't. He has a good arm, but is worse than Gary Sanchez and doesn't have Sanchez' bat.
  13. Current signees: 3rd McDonough 6th McElveny 100k UNDER 10th Litwicki 100k UNDER 14th Webb
  14. For a bat first AA catcher? No.
  15. If Manny played DH in BOS, we would have lost out on so many great memories. That's my only argument against the DH.
  16. If league average is 24%, it's hard to get upset over anything less than 30% or so.
  17. Hernandez is a bat only catcher who has an OPS of 767 in AA. There's a non zero chance he needs to be moved off position and his bat may not carry him anywhere else. May: 729 OPS June: 543 OPS July: 1222 OPS For a guy who was on a taxi squad last year, he needed to start faster than he did. I hope he can continue his hot streak, but we'll have to see.
  18. If I posted in the gamethreads, they'd be much more enjoyable.
  19. If you have to go to the Yankees, at least get overpaid and drag the team down with your performance. That's a true Red Sox.
  20. And maybe not even Hernandez.
  21. Kavadas also is 4 years older than Mayer and outweighs him by well over 50 lbs. Kavadas is basically a softball player that only hits bombs.
  22. I doubt he'd avoid deals like that.
  23. https://www.milb.com/player/alex-scherff-669085?season=2021&team=546 Between GRE and POR, Scherff has a 1.11 WHIP, 4/1 k/BB. If you ignore his first game (hadn't pitched in a game situation since 2019) he has only given up 3 runs all year. That first appearance included 3 bb's and a HR. Since then, he's only allowed 8 bb's in the next 20 appearances.
