  1. He's not worse than Cordero though.
  2. Right now, he's not a starter. Maybe he can develop into one?
  3. Good news on the pitching front. Murphy's numbers in Greenville weren't lighting the world on fire, but you can't just judge a player on their stat line.
  4. I don't know if it's something Cora can fix. This seems to be a roster construction issue IMO.
  5. Devers' BB% is a career high this season. Xander's and JD's are well within expectations. Verdugo just isn't getting the hard contact he used to. Not sure it's a change in his swing tho.
  6. Hamels' arm is a joke. Yes.
  7. Except that I am a REALIST. I am neither pessimist nor optimist.
  8. Hamels had a 8.10 ERA, he's done. Should go get very good Porcello.
  9. Would have been pushed over the lux tax cap.
  10. I think you are discounting what Marwin's glove brings to the table. He's better than Munoz/Cordero/Santana/Dalbec/Chavis. He's mediocre, but still better than the other weak links.
  11. Looks like the Dodgers only wanted to give up Maeda in the trade? Can't speak to their inner workings.
  12. No, he wasn't. That was a media lead story after the trade.
  13. Was the original trade Verdugo and Graterol? I thought the Sox balked at Graterol due to an injury and got Downs and Wong instead. Would Graterol have made the trade better? Graterol pitched well last year, but has been bad this year.
  14. Well actually, let me tell you why I won't have a nice day...
  15. How often do teams go wire to wire? I think we need to hope they can tread water and pick up steam once Schwarber is ready next week. If the losing streak continues, it may be a big issue though.
  16. The end of 2011 was a nightmare, but there was a shitload of bickering during 2012 between PG, Fred, SCM, you, UN? and a whole bunch of posters. That takes the cake IMO. Though my favorite day on here will always be posters freaking out over Theo's trip to go get AGon and Theo getting on the plane without a contract. The on again off again contract rumors were hilarious to follow because it was a roller coaster on here. I was stuck at the mall that day shopping for baby stuff and just remember how entertaining the board was.
  17. Mookie 2020 season and Qualifying Offer vs Verdugo for 5 seasons, plus Wong, plus Downs Last year, Mookie was a 3 fWAR player. In the past two seasons, Verdugo is already at an accumulated 2.9 fWAR and he has 3 more years to go. Would you rather a comp pick or Wong and Downs? I think the deal already seems very fair for the Sox. The Sox weren't going to re-sign him and all they were going to get after 2020 was a comp pick.
  18. Yes, we're talking about the WC play in game winners only. My assumption is that there is a slight disadvantage. So far, the scant evidence we have points to that. I believe this new playoff format isn't compatible to what we saw to the older system where the Sox were treated equally to the other postseason teams aside from homefield advantage.
  19. That's the only data we can go on. You can't just say everything is a crapshoot and not be able to have any sort of backup for it. Right now, it appears that WC teams are less likely than division winners to make the WS.
  20. You would have loved it here in 2012.
  21. I'm not allowed to disagree at home so............. I get it out of my system here.
