  1. It's just bad negotiating.
  2. He's only caught 500 innings with the Sox. How many pitchers have worked with him for "HUNDREDS" of innings. At most, it would be 2. Even then, you'd need to account for opposing lineups which would bring that already SSS even more meaningless.
  3. I learned the following after reading this thread: ERod is balless and spineless. Brasier should not throw his best pitch.
  4. They should have countered with 69 million and see if it got a chuckle out of Mookie. Then they could have sat down like adults and agreed on 350.
  5. And during this 6 game winning streak, MADSTORK has not posted once. Interesting!
  6. And since his contract is up after next year, even if he tanks, it doesn't kill the payroll. However, I STILL WOULD HAVE RATHER NOT PAID SALE AND EOVALDI IF I COULD HAVE KEPT BETTS.
  7. If he has a 3.5 fWAR season consistently, he's a steal. That injury concern still plays into his future value IMO.
  8. He was very good in 18, but has slipped since then. He gets blame because he was a part of some imploding pens. Really guilty by association. He may not be the 2018 version again, but he could be a decent middle reliever. However, he's already 33 and there isn't much meat left on the bone.
  9. Why is Lindor struggling? 1. Increased k rate 2. Career low line drive rate 3. Career high weak contact % 4. -7 runs on pitches in the heart of the plate 5. Career low contact rate on pitches in the zone 6. Career low on contact rate for pitches out of the zone 7. Career high whiff %
  10. Akil Baddoo was taken after OPSing 683 in High A. Jimenez OPS by month: May 815 June 611 July 752 Aug 827 Sept 896 OPS 538 vs LHP, 805 vs RHP He has the more conventional swing when hitting RH, but is not making good contact. As a lefty, he's slappy and has a high OBP. The question is if that is sustainable or not. This has been a disappointing year for him.
  11. BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the winners of the organization’s 2021 Minor League Awards: Offensive Player of the Year: INF Nick Yorke Defensive Player of the Year: INF/OF Ceddanne Rafaela Starting Pitcher of the Year: RHP Brayan Bello Relief Pitcher of the Year: RHP Durbin Feltman Baserunner of the Year: INF Christian Koss Latin Program Position Player of the Year: OF Allan Castro Latin Program Pitcher of the Year: RHP Jedixson Paez https://www.mlb.com/redsox/press-release/press-release-red-sox-announce-winners-of-2021-minor-league-awards?t=red-sox-press-releases
  12. Use of CERA at all is misusing it. It is a stat with no value. Even you said it fraught with randomness.
  13. Do you actually go back and read these after the fact?
  14. I'm putting you in the "thinks Eovaldi can continue having career years" camp.
  15. Brasier last night: Baez K Alonso Groundout Davis Flyout
  16. He's been activated. Lopez was returned to AAA. While Iglesias is hitting, it'll be hard to play Arroyo. However, he needs in game reps before the playoffs because Iglesias is ineligible.
  17. Sale has a 426 FIP and is getting hit around by RHB. I don't think we can say his extension was a good idea just yet. Eovaldi has been great this year, there's no denying it. However, the immediate results after the extension were not good (-.3 fWAR in 2019). Can you expect a 31 year old having a career year to repeat this performance?
  18. So the guy with the name we would have done worse against? I'm very confused now.
  19. Just think at how much better Xander's range would be if the Sox had a new catcher! Renfroe would have zero errors if it wasn't for that dastardly VAZ! Devers' throwing issues? VAZ!!!!!
  20. @SoxProspects Miguel Bleis homered (4) and scored three runs in today's 8-7 DSL Red Sox Red loss. The 17-year-old centerfielder has slashed .264/.344/.453 over 122 PA so far in 2021.
  21. @ChrisCotillo Garrett Whitlock goes to the IL. Brasier called back up. Brasier retains option year.
  22. @alexspeier Cora says Arroyo hasn’t had many at-bats in the last month and a half. Sox want his timing ‘on point,’ knowing that he’ll be relied upon heavily in postseason with Iglesias ineligible to participate.
