    Maybe it was a ploy that Xander saw through which put the season on the wrong foot and they never recovered from. "We lowballed Xander and all we got was the 14th overall pick and some comp guys."

    If Henry doesn't want to pay guys after age 35, he needs to extend then prior to hitting arbitration.

    He's not a true power guy, he's a classic on base guy who has won a few batting titles. If it translates to doubles here, that's fine. He supposedly goes the opposite way well, which should work well at Fenway.

    Yes, they should have traded Xander, Eovaldi, JD and others last offseason. I agree.

    OF: Yoshida, Kiké, Conforto is better than 2022 IF: 1B is better, SS is a downgrade, loss of Xander affects Raffy how much? C: about the same as last season if I'm being honest SP: Sale, Paxton, Whitlock, Bello, Pivetta has higher potential than last year especially if they add in another arm like Kluber RP: 2023 pen is going to be way better and it's not close The only real downgrades to me are DH and SS. JD was a 1 fWAR guy last year at DH. I think the Sox can figure that out piecemeal, it will just be offbrand. The drop from Xander to Andrus won't be seen defensively, but he's a bottom third of the order bat.

    For now, the power is Story and Casas. We don't know of Yoshida's power will translate to much more than what Verdugo already has. Will there be more moves? Is Dalbec a platoon DH/OFer?

    If they all walk and Bloom isn't fired, it tells us that it was an ownership call. 100% They need to be more aggressive in extending their own guys like they did with Whitlock. Maybe Bloom has the willingness to do it, but the Sox have just let it go too long in the past? IDK

    Suzuki's contract has been fine so far. Kim (Korean, not Japanese) struggled adjusting in 2021, but more than made up for it last season. Those two guys are the most recent offensive talents to cross the Pacific.

    It means the Sox need to either extend Raffy now or trade him. Like do it today.

    I was thinking the Sox would have to move him to 3b/LF/RF at some point. We'll see what the Padres will do with him. The power decrease was dramatic last season and I do remember MANY posters on here complaining about his RBI totals and him not being able to get it done in the clutch.

    If he had played in MLB, it's probably 200M if you look at what has been handed out this offseason. Seems like the "value play" that Bloom talks about.

    I see the fascination with DHern for sure. Ort and Brasier can just go. They still need to drop someone to fit everyone onto the 40 man anyway. We'll see what happens.

    Senga Andrus Conforto That would be a big finish, honestly. I think they don't get Senga though. Maybe Kluber? It's more likely they just run Verdugo out there in RF this season for better or worse.

    I disagree. He sold the SOCCER team because the value of those clubs are very volatile. I think he holds onto the Sox for a long time.
