    Schreiber was decent in AAA last season. I think the only reason he didn't get more of a shot in the pen last year is that it didn't fall apart the way this year's pen did.

    With Perez, it could be a one year blip. He did increase his sinker usage and it was very effective for him.

    With Springs, they spoke about the reasons they liked him during 2022 (spin rates, k rates, etc) and considered him a potential late inning guy. Not sure why they didn't give him another shot. He had flashes in 2022, more so than the other dreck out there in the pen.

    I don't think they are going to trade anything substantial for a backup catcher.

    They valued WONG more than Plawecki. Keeping a 3rd catcher on the roster served no purpose down the stretch. They needed to give Wong additional reps with the pitching staff, but also needed filler like Almonte to hold a glove and stand in the OF.

    I agree. I'm not too sure which direction they are going to go with on Paxton, but just increases the uncertainty surrounding the rotation IMO. The Sox need a new version of Porcello, someone who can take the ball every 5th day and be counted on.
