  1. They also know not to turn their backs on each other.
  2. @BeyondtheMnstr ESPN's Kiley McDaniel on new Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida: According to "10 sources" he spoke to they all "thought the Red Sox overpaid by a hefty margin." One executive went as far as to say, "We thought he was worth less than half of what they paid."
  3. Kiermaier 8x150 to the Padres
  4. It's not "love," it's just that he's one of the few known available options.
  5. Even fantasy-sports are passé at this point, it's all about the gamblers! Gotta reach out to people that can no longer discern the difference between a slot machine and a slot receiver.
  6. @alexspeier A long series of negotiating missteps and market misreads paved the way for the Red Sox to lose Xander Bogaerts to the Padres. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/12/08/sports/xander-bogaerts-padres-red-sox/?event=event25 No s***, huh?
  7. Adding Price to the deal didn't "fatten the pot," it actually reduced the return the Sox received.
  8. They weren't getting an ace unless they traded for one anyway.
  9. I'm glad that it's an 11 year deal rather than an 8 year deal that was close enough to be within reach.
  10. They took less money, but not that much less. Also, not less years. Sox should not be paying Xander for 10 or 11 years full stop. We realize it. Xander is being massively overpaid. For me the stretch for the Sox would have been 8 years. 11 years is ridiculous. Sox weren't going to come anywhere near that.
  11. Hell to the naw naw naw... No chance, no chance in Hell...
  12. Bad news! I thought Verdugo was dogshit in RF last year. He looked ok there in 2020. I mean, he looked really promising in 2020 all around...
  13. They moved him there after the trade deadline. Were they looking for a RFer, but only came up with Pham? Maybe it'll be a strict Verdugo/Renfroe platoon in RF?
  14. What side of the jersey is the new patch on? Could be added strain for Sale.
  15. I'm not worried about Politi. Middle relief guys come and go. Ward leaving is unacceptable. He was the first damn pick.
  16. There has been noise about the Sox not being happy with Verdugo since last offseason. I think he's a goner.
  17. I'd rather have an average or better than average closer than no closer, which is how it's been since Kimbrel left.
  18. That's why the Sox needed to pay him more so that he wouldn't have needed the opt out.
  19. Agree on all except for the Betts comment.
  20. That's the stuff that really pisses me off, but it goes back to long before these two guys. I really started noticing it after 2011 when they booted Tito and ran him over with a car on his way out. This ownership is filled with horrible people who think there s*** doesn't stink. John Henry and Tom Werner provided the money to win 4 rings, but have also provided an atmosphere that caused some real dogshit seasons.
  21. 1. Betts should have been signed to the LA contract here. Ownership f***ed up. 2. Bogey's initial contract should have been for slightly more $$$ and not had the opt out. 3. Devers should have been extended by now. It was already clear that his bat was going to play for a long time.
