  1. Sports Radio takes? That's what we believe the average fan thinks now, moon? You fight Old Red about that incessantly... C'mon, man...
  2. @SPChrisHatfield For those wondering, there is usually a MLFA NRI announcement right about now, whereas guys getting NRIs who are in the system get announced later. I expect guys like Shugart, Altavilla, Koss, Fitzgerald, Santos will be on that list.
  3. If Tampa can afford $75M, EVERY team can afford $75M.
  4. @RedSox The #RedSox have added six non-roster invitees to the team’s 2023 Spring Training roster: pitchers Norwith Gudino and Oddanier Mosqueda, catchers Caleb Hamilton and Ronaldo Hernández, outfielder Narciso Crook, and infielder/outfielder Niko Goodrum. Gudino - RP from SFG Mosqueda - RP was in POR last year Hamilton - defensive C with pronounced platoon split Hernandez - currently playing well in Colombian winter league, but is no longer on 40 man Crook - OF from CHC, high k numbers, but is a good clubhouse guy Goodrum - SS that we all know and love
  5. In terms of MLB draft, he's done a very good job so far. Internationally, Bleis was a good get.
  6. And that's why we rolled into 2021 with Vaz and Bogey and JD and Eovaldi and left with (so far) a last place finish, a 4th round comp pick, Abreu and Valdez. You have to cash in the assets when you have them. Letting them leave for nothing makes zero sense. It's a move that you'd rip Bloom for later on.
  7. John Henry could ban Kimmi on TalkSox and we'd still keep posting anyway.
  8. George Will on line 2. The Fun Police. Fans don't give a s***.
  9. I'm a fan of a team that isn't giving out big contracts and I think it's good for the game. The only people I see complaining about Steve Cohen are old has-beens like David Axelrod. No real person listens to what someone like that has to say.
  10. If they get into the playoffs, his job is 100% safe. If they compete for a playoff spot until the last week, he probably still has a job in 2024 but it's not 100%.
  11. That's the worst option. If they go into the season with Raffy at 3b and no new deal, the fans will have "re-sign Raffy" signs at every game.
  12. Downs was kind of a shocker looking back on it. He was the 86th ranked prospect at the time of the trade. His bat was projected to play and the thought was he'd at least be moved off SS to 2B as his glove wasn't ideal. He put a lot of work in at SS and became good enough to be an MLB regular there. HOWEVER, his bat just cratered after coming back from the missed 2020 season and he never put it back together. He was always able to strike the ball very hard, but he lost all his confidence and was just never able to make consistent contact in the zone. The exact opposite happened to Downs that most scouts projected. His bat died on the vine.
  13. The farm is better. The "depth" is better. If they don't have a winning season in 2023, he's gone.
  14. Who is complaining about the Mets exactly? Yes, you should care if there are 3 or 4 teams vying to be the biggest team in baseball. That'd be amazing for this stale game.
  15. While Bloom has done a better job of selecting draft picks, I think you need to get players that are closer to providing actual help to the MLB team. Per BTV, Raffy has as much trade value as Roman Anthony, Kutter Coffey, Mikey Romero, Blaze Jordan, Nick Yorke and Elmer Rodriguez Cruz. That's 2 #1's, 2 #2's, 1 #3 and, 1 #4. Waiting for just one comp pick seems like a waste IMO.
  16. It was just weird how you worded it. Saying "the prospects didn't step up" kinda puts the blame on them rather than scouting and BOH/Bloom.
  17. The velo was close to his 2018 and 2020 seasons. I think the QO sealed the deal for him. Why lose some picks on a guy who struggles to stay healthy? I wouldn't be jumping at signing him if I was another team. He probably should have just accepted the QO.
  18. I understand your frustration, but what's the purpose of just posting "Bloom sucks" all day long. We get it. Most of us are mostly on board at this point and just quibble at the margins of his performance.
  19. More often, people can't even state the WHY.
  20. This is great for baseball. 1. It sets up the Mets as the new Evil Empire if they do win a few WS. (Haven't won in 35+ years) 2. It forces other owners to spend. 3. It makes the teams at the bottom look even worse than before. 4. It gets people talking about MLB again.
  21. How does the Red Sox signing a WOO SS relate to the Mets signing Carlos Correa? If the Sox signed Niko over the weekend, the same people would have the same complaints.
  22. Bloom will find a way!
  23. Why would you DFA a guy on an MiLB contract?
  24. I feel no optimism right now. NONE. However, I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the insight his post provided. This forum is now: Is Bloom a poopy head? Check the appropriate option below. ( ) Yes ( ) No
  25. Is that the prospect's fault or someone else's?
