  1. Sox are going to rely on guys like Goodrum, Allen, Tapia, et al that will also perform at a AAAA level at various points in the year. You can't really play the addition by subtraction game. Brasier? He's probably going to have as many innings this year as last year unless he's injured. Duran? He may be on the Opening Day roster. Crawford and Wink have an inside track on bulk innings in the pen and a shot at the rotation once one of the oft injured starters goes down.
  2. Honestly though, all the back and forth about the balanced schedule and what other teams added means very little to the Sox. The issue the Sox have is that the Offense struggled last season (Verdugo, Bogey and JD were all horrible at producing runs with guys on base https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1624818787684941824) but the names they have added seem to be lackluster. The Starting Rotation was injured on and off again all last season, but they are relying on Sale/Paxton/Kluber/Whitlock. The bullpen should be a strength, but those guys can be volatile year to year. As many have said, this team has a good ceiling and a bad floor. It's up to them to reach the ceiling. If the Sox don't make the playoffs, it won't be because of the balanced schedule or because of the FA's other teams added.
  3. The teams that win the offseason aren't typically the teams that are hoisting the trophy at the end of the year from what I remember.
  4. 1. Saving room for a late season addition in case they are still in the chase. 2. MAYBE leaving room for a guy like Iggy to be added if Mondesi gets injured in his first week back?
  5. Everyone here is equally great at knowing jack s***. Nobody on here is an expert nor should we be expected to be.
  6. Theoretically, they could be 81-81 and in the cellar, so sure...
  7. I'm not sure Cots is reliable anymore. I've heard a few times that we are closer to 9M under.
  8. He was exciting out there for sure. The wall may have a few Greenwell shaped dents out there.
  9. Dugo couldn't even play LF last year. He's probably not going to be any good in RF. I'm not worried about LF, but I AM concerned about RF which is a more important defensive position historically, but especially at Fenway.
  10. Video of another sweet left handed swing. https://twitter.com/Marcelo_Mayer10/status/1623805901160452096
  11. A mama gator protecting her nest? Stay away. A male gator walking across the golf course? He's just looking for the 19th hole.
  12. IDK, we've seen some BAD LFers in our time. If he can hit, it won't matter.
  13. Seiya or Ichiro? Ichiro was great from day 1. Matsui took a year to adjust.
  14. I'm glad that gator was leashed! Someone was probably looking for him!
  15. Considering how many gator interactions there are on a daily basis in Florida, it's safe to say "very rarely bite" is apt.
  16. The 2018 playoff appearances for Nate Eovaldi showing that he's an ace is a SMALL SAMPLE SIZE.
  17. I'm not so sure about that. I'm going to give him a few months to get acclimated before I leap to any conclusions.
  18. Now that is a SSS alert.
  19. Aside from 2021, Eovaldi was not an ace.
  20. You just like teams that LOSE in the World Series. You prefer LOSERS?!?!?!?
  21. Tampa wants younger and cheaper arms. Kluber is neither of those. Charlie Morton has had 2 good seasons since leaving the Rays. Why didn't they keep him?
  22. When '04 happened, nearly everyone said "now I can die happy." A few moments later....
  23. If we're only going on the 40 man: Sale is the blueberry muffin guy. Kutter Crawford from Okeechobee, FL is the obvious python injury guy. The gator question is a trick question as they very rarely bite and are just scaly feral cats.
  24. We're still haunted by 2011-12 and the Sox have won 2 WS since then.
  25. I think they've given opt outs to lots of guys they weren't really serious about. At the very least, it's competition for Wong and McGuire and forces them to come in and earn their spot. Sox are very weak at the upper levels at C.
