  1. I’d still throw him in AAA.
  2. I'm not sold on Murphy. Walter has promise, but needs more time in AAA.
  3. The extension is Desperate Dave's fault.
  4. Of all the guys listed, he definitely could be a fan favorite and big time shirt seller. If he came up through this system, I think he would be a clear fan favorite no question about it.
  5. Bob Gibson was cooler than anyone on the 1967 Red Sox.
  6. The NL team I liked growing up was the Cardinals: Ozzie Smith, Coleman, McGee, Van Slyke, Pendleton, Clark, Pena. Cubbies fans are lame. Their park is dumb. Harry Carey is bad. Steve Bartman did nothing wrong.
  7. @PeteAbe Connor Wong caught in the bullpen today. So he’s making progress with his hamstring.
  8. I still remember 1986, but they are far behind other MLB teams I root against (NYY, TBR, TOR, HOU, CHC).
  9. From what I've read, each week the called balls and strikes get cut in half. It was definitely overblown because of that Braves game, but I think that was hilarious and meaningless because it happened in a ST game.
  10. For pitchers it would only affect Bleier then. Fine?
  11. We don't really know what the Mets' financial situation looks like, so it's hard to say if it really is dipping into his pockets.
  12. Sale Price Lackey Schilling Beckett Those are 5 guys with distinctive personality flaws. I can see why they wouldn't be a "fan favorite." Yuck!
  13. Sox better file a grievance
  14. He struggles to maintain his form over multiple innings from what I’ve heard. From outing to outing, his consistency can be poor as well. He just doesn’t have tight mechanics. Maybe he can fix it?
  15. They aren’t there. Not even close. Maybe all the driveline guys they brought in will help?
  16. Next year. Song would only have to be on the active roster for 60 days rather than the whole year. Easier to keep him around.
  17. Well, he could have signed Xander for a below market deal last offseason. That would have been fairly judicious of him.
  18. Do the Sox have Tampa's developmental system?
  19. He's not the only guy making the calls or holding the money. There's a push and pull in the Red Sox ownership group between spending and not spending. Werner wants to spend. Henry doesn't want to spend.
  20. He's still in the Garrett Whitlock live BP role. Don't worry though Aaron Boone said he's throwing the ball well. That guy is a reliable source!
  21. It's hard to see what the organizational philosophy is on acquiring pitchers. They don't draft them. The ones they sign are old and on short contracts. Where's the long term solution?
  22. Do you dismiss bad ST results? Niko Goodrum: 176 AVG, 17 AB, 3 H, 1 BB, 11 K, 399 OPS Duvall: 000 AVG, 11 AB, 3 BB, 6 K, 200 OPS Kiké: 077 AVG, 13 AB, 1 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 277 OPS Of all the hitters with bad numbers, Goodrum really sticks out, especially with his 500 BABIP. He's toast.
  23. Yes, he uses the 40 man roster, but I don't think he uses the bottom of the 40 man roster well.
  24. I think 5GG was under the assumption the Phillies were trading for Song's Rule 5 rights and would be able to pass him through waivers and get him off of the 40 man for the year.
  25. When you go to mlb.com, you get a nice big picture of Masataka Yoshida now. Is THIS the team to beat? Japan cruises again Team Japan is serving notice to the rest of the Classic field: It's here to win. Behind five RBIs from new Red Sox signee Masataka Yoshida, Japan rolled past Korea for its second straight rout. Here's a video: https://www.mlb.com/video/yoshida-s-big-day-at-the-plate?t=world-baseball-classic-video
