  1. +1 The only thing I can think of to rationalize what Pippen said is jealousy and bitterness, which I don't really understand, as MJ has always given Pippen his due. And I think the media has as well. I liked Magic's tweet: "I have tried not to comment on what Scottie Pippen said, but Michael is the greatest ever - point blank." The lowest point total MJ ever had in a championship game was 22, and that's a fairly large sample size. LeBron's point totals this series: 24, 20, 17, 8. And he scored 14 in a game against the Spurs back in 2007.
  2. My brother was drafted in the 23rd round by the Angels. He got screwed over big time, but I'm just glad it's over.
  3. His small frame worries some scouts.
  4. Wow, Talksox is really not so active anymore. Nobody is interested in the draft?
  5. Can't believe Rendon fell to WAS at 6th. Five teams could really be kicking themselves in a few years. I understand his shoulder is a concern, but he is easily the best college bat in the draft. The Mariners really dropped the ball by passing on him. For a team that needs offense as badly as they do, Hultzen didn't make much sense, especially with the signability issue with him. They took Morrow over Lincecum in 2006 and Jeff Clement over a lot of great players in 2005. I think this pick will come back to haunt them as well.
  6. Nice pickup of Morrow, Yeszir. My eyes lit up when someone dropped him, but then I realized I had the 2nd worst waiver priority.
  7. So, where does Dwight Howard end up in the offseason? It seems like the Bulls and Celtics are both in on him. I know I would trade Noah and Deng for Howard in a heartbeat. I would prefer to keep Deng over Boozer because Gibson can adequately fill Boozer's shoes, but Boozer's contract is a dealbreaker for most teams. Then again, so was Deng's before this season, but he had an All Star-worthy year.
  8. I think the 5 greatest centers of all time, in no particular order, have to be: Shaq Wilt Kareem Hakeem Russell A case could be made for David Robinson and Patrick Ewing as well.
  9. GFY you emo loser. You are clearly trying to stir up s***.
  10. Yeah, suck on that, Heat!
  11. I think Shaq is the most dominant center I've ever seen. But in terms of who was the better all-around center, it would have to be The Dream hands down. I wish I could have seen more of him in his prime.
  12. Ryan Lavarnway got off to a real bad start, but he's picked it up of late. In AA, he's got a respectable line of .281/.358/.500. Only 3 doubles, but he also has 12 HRs.
  13. Definitely due for a correction. Masterson is a pretty good comp. Morton could get by with the walk rate if his K rate were higher. Against a lefty-heavy lineup, it could get ugly fast. That said, I do find him intriguing because his delivery is almost exactly like Halladay's now. He even has similar movement on some of his pitches. It should be noted that he was a very good groundball pitcher before he mimicked Halladay. Now, he's inducing groundballs 63% of the time, which is insane. That's better than Cahill and Britton. He gave up 15 gopher balls in 80 innings last year. This year, he's given up 2 long balls in 68 innings. If he can continue to keep the ball in the yard, the regression that is forthcoming won't be terrible.
  14. Larger than life figure with a larger than life personality. The big man style of play bores me to death, including Shaq. But he was hilarious and the most dominant center I've ever seen. Like I said before, when the greats are relegated to role players, it's time to retire.
  15. Huge choke job by the Bulls. Rose crumbled again. A pathetic way to end the season.
  16. Rose has played like s*** in this series. Especially down the stretch. No-show in the 4th quarter. He deserved the MVP in the regular season. But he has completely crumbled when the games mattered most. And certainly part of that can be attributed to LeBron's D. I'm not taking anything away from what he's done on that end of the floor.
  17. The Bulls are a good team defensively, Boozer is garbage defensively, they legitimately lost this game, but they won't be getting any calls this series.
  18. If any of you are interested in some inside Bulls stuff from the 1990s and beyond, I would highly recommend you read this. I don't agree with Bach on his assessment of Rose's D, but everything about MJ, Pippen, and the rest of Phil's crew is damn compelling. Bach needs to write a book. I don't want to spoil anything for you, so I'll just leave it at that. Enjoy guys. http://dsy.posterous.com/50904227
  19. Very winnable game for the Bulls. Rose played like s***. No one could knock down a three. Let this one get away.
  20. Not necessarily. "There's no way, with hindsight, I would've ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, 'Hey, look, let's get together and play on one team,'" Jordan said. “Things are different. I can't say that's a bad thing. It's an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys." “Obviously, when you look at the Dream Team, they were on my team and it wasn’t too much of a competitive thing,” he said. “I’m a competitive guy, and I like to play against competitive players.” LeBron's mistake wasn't leaving Cleveland. It was the classless way he left. Part of the hype surrounding LeBron is his own doing as well. The "Chosen One" tattoo will make him look bad until he gets a ring. Also, if you don't want to be compared to MJ, don't steal his talcum powder pre-game ritual. Looking forward to beating the Heat in 7. Let's go Bulls!
  21. Mark Buehrle was perfect for a game and a half. If Buehrle (mediocre stuff) can get close, it can be done. I would put DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak at the top. With all of the bullpen specialists nowadays, pretty much impossible. Pete Rose is second, and his streak ended at 44. That's not even close. Ripken's streak should be in there as well.
  22. Nah, that's a load of BS. Some players are better closers than others. Some guys handle the pressure better than others. Is it quantifiable? No, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
  23. Rondo is a badass for playing through this injury. I admire his toughness.
