Is it possible that we might see Lars Anderson get a cuppa as a result of this? I mean, in terms of raw talent he'd clearly be the best option sinde we really don't have anyone who can play a major league iB or 3B at Pawtucket, and Anderson looks like he's adjusted to AA just fine and is killing the baseball -- I imagine he could be adequate at the big league level on an emergency basis right now. If we're resigning ourselves to full-time Caseyness at 1B as it is, why not go with a young option who's swinging a great stick up in Maine instead?
I'm pretty sure the Sox would prefer not to do it all things being equal, but remember that Masterson went from Portland to Boston to Pawtucket this year even though he wasn't on the 40-man at the start of the procedure, so it's something they're willing to do if they see a hole.
