  1. Clay Buchholz needs to learn how to be a pitcher from Daisuke Matsuzaka. They have a similar style, except that Daisuke knows how to get out of the trouble he gets himself into. If he can't close down this inning against the bottom of the friggin' Orioles' lineup I want him on the road to Pawtucket by the beginning of the next inning.
  2. Uhh, no. He can be re-signed inexpensively without driving me nuts, but this team will need to move on from Tek at some point anyway, and that point's looking nowish considering his offensive woes.
  3. Colon hasn't pitched much, but when he did pitch he threw reasonably well. His lack of major league appearances suggests that he might be available to the Sox on the same terms as last year -- come in, rehab for most of the year in the minors, appear once or twice in the bigs, hopefully at a time when you could use a jolt to your rotation because of injury. Those guys can be very useful if they have their brief moments of health at the right time. All in all, Colon was a positive this year and I'd take him again on the same terms if he wanted to come back and work with Farrell again. Thoughts?
  4. Ahh, the sweet sweet innocence of an uninformed opinion. For the record, Ross has better offensive numbers than either Cash or Varitek.
  5. Batting average is a dead stat, chief. Ross has always had a very high OBP and fits well with the Sox' stated preference for a guy who knows how to take a walk. If the D is good he should get himself a trial with the knuckler. Ross's receiving skills are supposedly good, so it couldn't hurt to give him a shot, especially if Cash has an option. WCS Ross is a failed experiment and we cut him adrift. Net cost to the Sox, about a few thousand dollars. Even f we lose Cash over it, no biggy as we still have Brown. So the downside here is very small and I see some possible upside if Ross might represent an upgrade at the dish.
  6. Right well, as long as he's not actively a libility in the regular season I don't care -- he's money in the postseason and until that changes I'd rather rest him and baby him a little, or maybe even a lot, to make sure we can get the best he can give in October.
  7. Shields hadn't allowed enough baserunners so they brought in Darren Oliver to walk in the ty8ing run. Bases loaded, 1 out.
  8. Hey Angels! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2025/2479487481_a943be0642.jpg
  9. 106 pitches through 5. Looks like another 5 inning win for Matsuzaka. Darren Oliver is 1 pitch away from surrendering the lead.
  10. Oh yeah, that's why we let Millar go.
  11. Upton fanns, Angels in double-play territory in their desperate quest to hold their lead. Way to go Daisuck-eh
  12. Checked swing. WOW ELLSBURY!
  13. Angels have to count on the Rays to go Red Sox all over a bases loaded 0 out scoring chance.
  14. NOT a strike.
  15. Cora deserves a little love -- He's got the world's emptiest .300 AVG, but he's got a .300 AVG. Usually he's in full second-half fade mode too this late in the season.
  16. Na na na na Na na na na Hey hey hey GOODBYE!
  17. MVP! MVP! MVP!
  18. YOUUUUUUUUK!
  19. Laser show 40 doubles. Wow. Awesome gap power there
  20. Daisudini strikes again!
  21. Wow. He got out of it.
  22. Inning is not yet over. EDIT: And holy cow did he miss with that one!
