  1. Seriously, if he never gets a look as a pitcher, it's a crime. Guy is nothing as a hitter, but he hit the 90's with minimal prior experience and had some nice downward break on the fastball and an interesting breaking pitch into the bargain. Not a lot of players could transition into a pitcher but TPJ looks like a possible exception. I'd love to see what a couple years in the minors to get used to being a pitcher could do for his stuff. Anywho, back to the Sox. I'd trade Julio Lugo for TPJ straight up. At least Tito would KNOW that TPJ can't hit, instead of this constant pretending that Lugo can.
  2. I dunno about that, I kinda liked his stuff. He really needs to work on that slider though. Good break, and great separation, but terrible location -- kept leaving it right in the middle of the zone. Oh, you mean as an infielder. Yeah, agree completely.
  3. You know, it's a well kept secret, and seems incredibly counterintuitive, but a win in June is worth 1 win while a win in September is also worth 1 win.
  4. He isn't on your roster either last time I checked. Has that changed?
  5. That's why he'll spend a lot of time DHing. But Napoli is by far the better overall catcher, and with Snyder (above average defensive C) as my starter at the position I'm very loaded behind the dish. Although I might load up with a third catcher to make sure I don't get put in situations where I have to give up the DH. That said, Suzuki is a franchise-caliber defensive catcher and is a very worthy pick.
  6. In mind it's hard to do the second without bearing the first in mind.
  7. The Yankees are our closest division rivals. Each win against them counts double. That means beating the Yonx 8 in a row is as good as a 16 game generic win streak. Assuming there were no Yankee wins among that streak (which IIRC they were)
  8. We have been there. We may be back there someday.
  9. You wouldn't have the best backup catcher anyway. Not unless I decide to go for a third catcher for maximum flexibility. I've got Snyder and Napoli as my catching tandem with Napoli DHing on non catching days.
  10. Gimme just a few more seconds. There we go. Actually I was just saying that I had an eye on Blackburn and explaining why I didn't draft him.
  11. Nice writeup. Welcome to the forum.
  12. Yer nuts, Jacko. If anything, all this nonsense with Lugo and Green has lowered the pressure on Lowrie. Now all he has to do to earn the appreciation of the fans is not be worse than Lugo and a career mL'er
  13. I looked at taking Blackburn over Zobrist, but he seemed to be in the Andy Sonnanstine mold, and those can be volatile, and as well kept a secret as Zobrist is, I wanted to make sure I got him..
  14. Pity. But we were about due.
  15. Thank you, Mike.
  16. Get yourself some range, Mike.
  17. That's OK, the pitch to Pedroia was outside. It balanced out.
  18. Penny's trade value just went up.
  19. Nice velocity at over 100 pitches.
  20. DOn't carry this to an absurdity, Tito. He's over 100 pitches. Get him out.
  21. CLEARLY outside.
  22. YESSSS!!! http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090611&content_id=5277906&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos
  23. Your cleanup hitter is Brian Daubach. I think the world of Brian but...
  24. You know, Green isn't doing half bad out there right now... at least he's doing a fair job filling in and certainly could be a lot worse. That said, still can't wait for the return of an above average SS on this team.
