  1. Say what you want about the O's, they're a team that knows how to exploit weaknesses.
  2. Tell me why Oki is still in this game.
  3. Could we please, please, please get a strike 3?
  4. If we blow this, it's alllllllllll Tito. I like Tito, but this is his worst game so far this year by a long way.
  5. Every little dip, dunk, cheapy, is falling now.
  6. The worst part is that he has everyone he needs tonight. He does NOT need to take these stupid risks. He CAN afford to be aggressive with the bullpen. He's just refusing to do it.
  7. OKI. You should not need me to tell you this but: You throw 87. You cannot live above the belt on hitters throwing 87. Get it down.
  8. It'll probably just be "Masterson was throwing good." Maybe a little managerial doublespeak designed to take the blame off Masterson.
  9. It's not worth taking when you have an entire bullpen. what's wrong with getting Bard an inning of work? All of your big 5 (Paps, Oki, Saito, MDC, RR) were available too. If Masterson hadn't already gotten you through the 6th I might feel differently but he'd already done the long man's job.
  10. THings are starting to go against us now. Nervous.
  11. You're welcome to think so (EDIT: WB...). It was still stupid to bring Masterson in for a third inning when he's only gone more than 2.1 innings of relief once this year and the whole bullpen is rested enough to be used tonight. No guarantee he coughs it up like this but it certainly does invite the risk, which turned up to bite us this time.
  12. Exactly. Glad you're catching on. You base how you use a reliever on their career projections and what you know about their stuff, poise, and command. Not based on the last pitch they threw.
  13. Then it was doubly stupid. Basing what he'll do in the next inning on what he did in the last inning is so dumb it's downright Gradyesque. ESPECIALLY with relievers.
  14. We're due for one of these against the Orioles in any given season. I just hope it doesn't go all the way.
  15. He's capable of it, but A, there was no point in asking him to, and B, his longest relief appearance besides his relief of Matsuzaka is 2 1/3 inning so asking him to complete a third inning wasn't smart. It was a stupid move and an unnecessary risk.
  16. No he hasn't. 1+ he's done a lot of, but he's appeared in 2+ innings only four times all year, counting his brilliant relief of Matsuzaka that presaged his move to the rotation and twice in the aftermath of that move to the rotation. You know, while he was still stretched out. And the only other time he did it was 11 days ago. And he'd taken them through the 6th so there was no need to ask him to do it today.
  17. Because he's not stretched out anymore and he already threw 2 innings. Even if he was stretched out in Spring he hasn't been maintaining it with his usage pattern. Expecting him to go 2 was stretching it, 2+ with no rampup is insane. There was no reason to take this risk. You have your entire bullpen available tonight. It was stupid.
  18. Tito, you should have got him 3 batters ago. TAKE. HIM. OUT.
  19. What the heck, we're STILL leaving him in? This is NUTS!
  20. MAsterson should never have started this inning.
  21. OK, don't carry this to an absurdity. Masterson's done enough. Get Saito warming.
  22. I guess they knew it was a foregone conclusion. Either Masterson is dealing or the Orioles don't want to be here right now.
