  1. I suggest in that case that you suspend the hypocricy and don't call people out for sins for which you yourself are rather blatantly guilty.
  2. Pot, meet kettle.
  3. There's absolutely no guarantee that actually happens. Don't let the fearmongers get to you.
  4. I can only repeat what I've read. I'm not even going to pretend I can do the math myself.
  5. Bosox21 definitely has a point. I think the last time we acquired for a high profile veteran and got the expected results was probably Schilling. Maybe Beckett, but we were sold on the Beckett deal as if we were getting an ace out of the box, and there's been a fair bit of assembly required.
  6. The last time I saw the math done, it was something like an 85% success rate required for stolen bases to be more productive than the outs given back. A high standard ineed -- but Ellsbury meets it and then some.
  7. Hmm.... going after Hardy as a low risk venture in the hopes that he reinvents himself might be a better idea than I was giving it credit for.
  8. Honestly, despite the emotional displays and all the sweating Youks is usually a consummate professional. A loud professional, but he sticks to business and doesn't get himself in trouble a lot. That's probably why this thread is here, people are shocked this happened this way..
  9. Ahh crap, I missed a turn again. Trent Oeltjen, OF, bench
  10. I imagine Porcello does right now.
  11. Your posting style usually betrays a hint of irritability. Recently it's been far more than a hint. You're fast approaching full bore curmudgeon status.
  12. So it's Youkilis' fault Lowell is hurt? That's what I meant by "not necessarily his doing." Personally I don't care if it does sit him out for a week. The message needed to be sent. And in your desperate quest to blame Youks for something you're overselling the extent of Lowell's injury. If he can't play a solid week of 3B he should be on the DL.
  13. Hardy has fallen off the face of the earth this year. I'd get off that particular bandwagon if I were you. He needs to reestablish his value before anyone should trade anything for him. Personally, if there's any veracity to the rumor that Yunel Escobar is unhappy in Atlanta, that's the middle path guy I want to go for. solid D, solid OBP, bit of power, nice overall package for a SS. Failing that, we could perhaps find a trading partner in Anaheim, they always seem to have a spare young middle infielder, that seems to be their draft preference.
  14. Someone forced Porcello to deliberately drill Youkilis? Porcello threw at Youks, no doubt in my mind. Sometimes you've just got to take the heat and do what you need to do to protect yourself.
  15. EDIT: you altered your post to tone down the angry rhetoric so I'm doing the same. I don't want him to charge the mound in that situation either. But you can't blame him for doing it. The pitchers of the American League have been making a game of plunking him, it was a matter of time before he went off on one of them
  16. Well what can I say? The guy I wanted wasn't the guy we got, and the guy I wanted would have been able to play third base.
  17. You people are trying very hard to blame Youkilis for something that isn't necessarily his doing. Good luck with that. I would have preferred t hard he not charged the mound myself, and those who want to claim that this is a mystical turning point are probably deluded, but if we sink because of Youks missing a week, we weren't the contenders we think we are anyway.,
  18. Why are you asking me this? The last time I checked, my birth certificate did not read "Terry Francona." I suspect though that they didn't push Lowell largely because they didn't have to. I don't think it'll kill Lowell to play a few consectuve days until they get Youks back.
  19. Nonetheless. Lowell being in the lineup at the point where he hit those homers is a direct result of Youkilis being thrown out of the game. Wriggle and deny all you want to, that is the silver lining of the ejection.
  20. If Youks isn't tossed, Lowell isn't in the lineup. You asked, I provided.
  21. Because we haven't needed him to. This is the point where Lowrie going back on the DL really hurts us.
