  1. The difference is that the Angels have actually done something meaningful with Figgins as pretty much their everyday 3B. The Mariners haven't done much in the Ichiro era.
  2. Mr. Crunchy does have a point about the strikeouts. I've kind of attributed that to Kalish being underage for his level but it is a factor to keep half an eye on going forward.
  3. And New York has responded to pressure for nearly a decade now in a certain way that leaves me not exactly shaking in my boots. Although I will say this. If there's a team that's due to actually perform up to season levels in the playoffs, it's the Yankees.
  4. I'm guessing Theo's rolling high on a healthy return for Daisuke.
  5. Performance in rehab starts is a horrible indicator of performance once a player actually gets back. As long as he's healthy and throwing in the low 90's I don't care if he gets tattooed in the rehab starts.
  6. Bruschi was an iconic Patriot and a great player in his prime. Hopefully he sticks around in some capacity.
  7. Granted, but he does still have half decent bat speed and he could manufacture some power with his legs if he could learn to hit the ball on a line and find gaps with it. I'm not saying the guy doesn't need to try a radically different approach to be effective, but he still has the raw tools to be a successful major leaguer.
  8. I do think that with the right hitting coach, Gathright can still figure it out. All he really needs to do is hit the ball on a line a bit more often and get it into the outfield. He needs to retool his swing almost completely though, and probably do it in very limited chances. That makes the chances he actually pulls it off pretty infinitesimal. Still worth a look on a no-downside pickup. Some old-tymey coach did this kid a huge injustice by giving him Lou Brown advice. Infielders have gotten much better over the last few decades. You can't just hit it on the ground and leg it out no matter how fast you are.
  9. dipre wins
  10. I'd be interested to see his effort, actually. I don't know how you could interpret Kalish's performance this year as anything but exciting, especially now it appears that his power is coming through,.
  11. Wang was overhyped when he was "good." His peripherals suggested regression even before he got hurt.
  12. Simple question. Does Kalish have the upside/ceiling of a 5 tool, 20 + HR, 20+ SB, center fielder? He's got 15 long ones and 19 SB's this year between Portland and Salem. If power is more likely to advance than speed then he seems like he's got a shot to me.
  13. About time to start thinking about such things. Beckett and Lester are givens, but after them it gets a little murky. Buchholz is presumably the #3 at the moment, but who's the #4? Do we use a #4? And does this change if Daisuke comes back healthy and/or Buchholz struggles? With the acquisition by our likely ALDS rivals of Kazmir, I'd like to hope we get an answer to that soon.

    Seems logical to me.
  15. I'll take Daisuke, mostly because I understand how he was effective before he broke down.
  16. If I actually thought there were any justice in the world I'd say the league should just hand Zack Greinke the award and be done with it. Considering the team he's pitched ahead of he's been absolutely incredible.
  17. Shoulda been a GIDP there.
  18. E1. Nathan with an awful throw to second. Loaded, 0 out,.
  19. Rangers 2 on, 0 out against Nathan, Blalock is the lead runner.
  20. Casilla G6, innings over. Nathen coming in.
  21. Nathan warming.
  22. Span out on a G4, runners second and third, 2 out. Casilla up.
