  1. Very true. Our roster is good, the good players just aren't performing up to par.
  2. I look forward to the 'SOX COULD HAVE SIGNED TEX BUT CHOSE NOT TO AND NOW LOOK AT US THEOS A DUMMY' thread when the Sox are eliminated.
  3. So error and punishment, as opposed to no error? What does that do?
  4. f***, I'd camp out in Boston.
  5. Good thing I did not watch this game (like just about every other Sox game in the past month).
  6. Oy I never implicated you.
  7. We should probably get back on topic before the fun police show up and ticket us for not adhereing strictly to teh topic at hand.
  8. Lopez was hysterical. Can't believe they banned him.
  9. Some hilarious troll who came on here last night, made a couple of threads (one of them titled 'WHATS YOUR FAVORITE LITTLE DEBBIE SNACK', which had me rofling for a good five minutes) with the usual troll stuff. Threads were deleted.
  10. I don't know, do we?
  11. Generic 'U GOT NOTHIN ON ME YUNG PUP' comment.
  12. Except there were no personal attacks. Just combative posting in an argument that Clint appears to be pulling out of. Another win for me.
  13. Runs scored isn't really an indicator of much. Just as situational and luck-dependent as RBI, only merely implies that the runner is better at getting on base (but by itself provides no closure). But I do agree with the general essence of the post.
  14. Completely f***ing ridiculous. By what straw-grasping figment of the imagination is two stinkers in two completely meaningless games, after 8 of 9 quality starts (that actually took place in meaningful games)? Why haven't you addressed my point about focus and pressure being directly related? Why the hell do people like Rivera and Papelbon have most of their bed-shittings when they're actually ahead and pitching in a non-save situation? Because it completely nullifies this bogus, blind argument about experience always being better and Dice-K having the hot hand because he pitched 4 good games, and Buchholz being in trouble because he struggled in two meaningless games at the tail-end of the season after several good starts. Honestly, this like bitching about spring training performance. Which if it benefited the older, ruff-n-tuff ballplayer guy and helped slam the young pup, you probably would.
  15. What the hell did Clay not earn? HE PITCHED BAD IN TWO MEANINGLESS GAMES. Focus and pressure have a direct correlation. If the meaningless games he's pitching in are... meaningless, and he knows it, why would he waste bullets by giving his 200% in a meaningless game, and not try some new things, perhaps? How the hell has Dice-K earned to pitch game 3 but Clay hasn't? Seniority? Please. He's been injured a huge chunk of the year, and most of when he hasn't been injured he's pitched very poorly. But four non-bed-s***ing starts at the end of the season, one of which in a completely meaningless game (read: unimportant. the results are not at all telling or indicative of players' true selves), and another largely unimportant since the division race was over but not formally finished.
  16. Right move for both teams.
  17. In the head-to-head matchup, team A proved to be the better of the two teams. Thus, team A should get the nod based on their advantage against team B. Again, this is the case in every other sport (but then again, every other sport has uniformly constructed fields of play, so what do they know?).
  18. Team A got the best of Team B during the regular season, so Team B should get another chance anyway? Mmmkay. s***, why don't we just have a wild card qualifying in each league every year? No matter what your record, the two top non-division winners get to play for the wild card on the last day of the season. $$$ machine!
