  1. Bingo. There's a lot less pressure to keep Beckett when if you lose him, you still have a front 3 of Lackey/Lester/Buchholz.
  2. /your credibility
  3. Really liking Seattle next season. Obviously a nice acquire for the Phillies, but losing Lee really hurts the overall gain of this move.
  4. Ay, that'll be one more than me!! Thx government.
  5. I hope not, unless he takes a drastic pay cut.
  6. http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2009/12/13/celtics_pierce_deserves_contract_extension/?rss_id=Boston.com+--+Boston+Celtics+news Article about Pierce's situation and whether or not he should be given a contract extension. Just to spitball, if we could sign Pierce to a two year extension after this one (this 'OMGZ HE MUST FINISH HIS CAREER AS A CELTIC' stuff is pure ********), and avoid doing anything stupid financially, we could potentially set ourselves up for another good summer in 2012 while still being respectable the next couple of seasons, since KG's ginormous deal expires then. A few of the free agents available are Carmelo Anthony, Andris Biedrins (option), and a few restricted guys like Jason Thompson and Anthony Randolph. Plus there's always the trade route.
  7. Difference between Atkins' and Beltre's bad years - one played half his games at SAFECO, the other at f***ing Coors field.
  8. Oh yes. The media is right, the front office is wrong. I think you've just split the atom.
  9. We have $54 million coming off the books this offseason. Considering that, I'd say paying $19 million for a bat and a decent C/1B/DH hitter isn't a huge deal.
  10. You lick windows on the short bus, I think is what he's moving towards.
  11. Uh, why not? Beltre's numbers were mauled by SAFECO, the monster would do him wonders. He's also a gold glove caliber defender at a position where Lowell slipped badly the past couple of seasons.
  12. Yup. He can hit, though.
  13. Max Ramirez? That's interesting. I wanted him back when all the 'TEXAS HAS TOO MANY CATCHERS LET'S TRADE FOR SALTY OR TEAGARDEN' discussion was in progress. These are a great couple of moves if the Sox can pull them off.
  14. If they don't give up too much, good move. Johnny Damon for Curtis Granderson is a favorable swap, I'd say.
  15. Please show precedent of us hyping up a garbage reliever in this manner.
  16. Why are they faulty? What makes it so that your completely baseless opinions gained by WATCHIN TEH GAEMZZZ have the authority of fact, while STATS (EVIDENCE) that reflect otherwise are dismissively labeled foolish and inaccurate? Please enlighten me on this.
  17. Pissing away a first rounder for a 34 year old mediocre infielder isn't terribly overpaying?
  18. god help us
