It's not his ego, it's just his mouth. I like Schilling, and I agree with most of the things he talks about, but he's not in any position to really do anything, other than give an opinion, which for the most part just makes him look like a loud mouthed ass, in which sometimes he is. If he were in some sort of position of power, as in MLB brass it would be different, but his bitching isn't going to help anything. Sure he's getting his point across but at the end of the day can anyone point out what good it does?
