  1. Has anyone noticed that Paps FB velocity has been down a little the last few weeks. I haven't seen it top 93 in a while. Not a big deal, just an observation.
  2. Manny 4-4 tonigh, driving the ball to CF and LF. Looks like he's breaking out of the slump and from what we have seen in the past, he could get VERY hot very soon.
  3. I just don't get this. Paps threw 9 pitches yesterday, Jima threw 12. Papelbon is our closer, not Jima. I love Jima, but come on. They better put Paps out there. They use him in a nonsave situation in the 9th last night, but no during a save situation tonight? WTF is going on in Tito's head? Edit: Never mind. He's warming up now.
  4. they shouldn't have pulled wake...
  5. Watch Tito not use Paps in a save situation.
  6. Wake is at 91 pitches. Given that Wake has settled down since the 5th and the pen worked a lot yesterday, would you put Wake out for the 8th and have the BP ready to take it over if he gets in trouble?
  7. I'm not about to write off the yankees, but... thank you...?
  8. Bases loaded, 0 outs, JD at the plate. Anything but a DP. Anything.
  9. ORS, every team in baseball would take Torii Hunter over JD Drew in a heart beat. Hunter has won 6 gold gloves in CF, and although his career numbers are a bit lower than Drew, he has been consistant and hasn't been an injury risk. Andrew Jones is another. Jones has won 9 gold gloves, and is a big power threat. He consistantly hits 30+ homers with 100+RBIs. He has 7 season with 30+ HR and 5 with 100+ RBI, every other year he has come very close to both stats. OMG HE STRIKES OUT!!! AHHH!!!! OMG!!!! Hes productive. Even now hes in a bad slump, but he still has 6HR, 31RBI, and 29 walks. Guess how many times he's been on the DL... 0. Virtually no injury risk. JD Drew has NOTHING on Jones. I don't care how much "potential" Drew has. He hasn't ever put it together and done anything with it. Jones actually has. Arguing that JD is better than Jones or Hunter is rediculous and just wrong.
  10. I thought his argument for Drew being overrated was weak, but I do think he is overrated... by the Sox. Just about every other team/person in baseball believes JD is a soft player who will never put it all together and reach his potential. Everyone who has been around him has called him soft, questioned his motivation/devotion, and believe he is damanged goods. The Red Sox overrated him and therefore overpaid him. I don't care how much potential a guy has. If he has had injury problems since day 1 and has yet to put it together at his age (31), he doesnt deserve to get paid with the top players. You have to earn it first, and JD hasn't. Is anyone really surprised with JD so far this season? Isn't this what everyone was warning the Sox about?
  11. Ferrell said after the game that Dice-K was dry heaving on the mound at times and he rushed into the club house to vomit after the 2nd inning. Pitching when he is vomiting. What a man.
  12. Their going to use Paps instead of, say, Delcarmen?
  13. McCarthy got a blister.
  14. The game is kinda slow right now, I like when they go off topid a little bit.
  15. ?? They haven't mentioned anything on NESN. I hope its just a stomach bug.
  16. I can't imagine the score the HP ump on thursday got. It might have been in the negatives.
  17. But Crisp isn't making $14 mil a year and supposed to be a difference maker in the 5 hole... I'm dissapointed with his struggling, but his role isn't to be an impact bat.
  18. You know what ORS, the next time JD makes good contact and drives the ball, whether an out or not, I'll shut up about him for a little while. Thats all I ask of him. Just one well hit ball. The only problem is that it hasn't happened for a while. (8 extra base hits in almost 2 months...)
  19. And ya riverside, besides the terribly low BA and OBP, Lugo is driving in a lot of runs and stealing a lot of bags. Kind of surprising given his low BA.
  20. JD hit into a DP, in any sport, the result is equally important. Anywho, the Sox offense is tearing it up right now.
  21. It was more solid than Drew's, but I still wouldn't consider it great contact. A well driven ball is good contact.
  22. f*** you, ORS is trying to say that JD made good contact and he didn't. I dont praise the good and ignore the bad.
  23. I'm sorry, but JD should get hell from Red Sox nation. He is beyond sucking at this point.
  24. It wasn't solid contact. Thats not what I would call a great swing or great contact. Sorry.
  25. I mean production wise. They haven't helped him so far.
