  1. Which he absolutely knows someone will give him if he waits. Some dumass NL GM could give him 6 years. He's not going to sign a friendly discount for the Sox. I wouldn't either.
  2. Fair enough. That is a reasonable argument. But it's not what a700 is doing. He uses all that knowledge(seeing prospects turn into bust's), experience, all those trends he witnessed that have now formed his personal views for his argument. Then when someone else shows him stats, past trends, he chooses to ignore them because they don't fit his argument anymore.
  3. Lester(Santana), Youkillis(Helton), I'm sure I'm missing some others. But I would imagine I won't be the only one to reply to this request We didn't expect ROY or MVP. We expected solid player who would contribute to a winning ball club. You on the other hand advocated more playing time for Alex Cora...Or whoever was the veteran IF on the bench.
  4. Young player vs pricey veteran. Thank you for making it easy for me. Your not seriously using the AS game as a measurement of how good a player is are you? And your senile if you think Halladay signs for 3 years, when he could wait a year and get 5+
  5. a700 stance is "trade Buchholz for any proven veteran". And it will be that until Buchholz shows he can handle it the spot, or makes an AS team or something. Which will be difficult because a700 doesn't like having these youngsters taking up important starts for the Sox...
  6. I have already stated that they might not be the best comparisons to use. But the logic behind the practice of comparing players is sound. :wtf: does fantasy baseball have to do with any of this? Maybe this explains a lot. No wonder your all about the proven player, prospects do you no good in fantasy leagues.
  7. a700 can I ask you a serious question? Why are you a Red Sox fan? The Yankees seem to be much more "your" type of team to me. You often would rather have the more expensive "proven" Veteran over the talented but "unproven" youngsters. You put no stock in player stats, projections, comparisons, scouting, and drafting. You more or less latch onto the big "names" types and don't budge from them, until the most current prospect you are pushing out the door to make room for a veteran does something. This is not meant as a joke or an attack, but just a general knowledge question. Do you see what I'm seeing? Maybe living in NY has finally taken it's toll
  8. I really like a700, but he's stuck in 1970 and can't find his way out. He doesn't comprehend how todays game works it seems. He see's the on field product played like he has learned and grown accustomed to seeing, but he still think's FO draft, scout, project talent like they did back in his hay day as well. It's a whole new ball game with scouting, saber metrics, project-able stats, and he just can't wrap his head around. Which I'm no expert on either, but at least I acknowledge people who put the time into show me these things. Not just toss it aside because I don't understand it, and give a " well those stats don't make a hill of beans, har har" type comment...
  9. No it's ignorant because you completely through out/ discredited his post because you didn't like 2 of the 5 examples he gave you. The very two he probably put in there for your sake(given your age). Maybe those two aren't the best examples, but the other ones hold water.
  10. Mine too. My view is if they weren't willing to do all this for Johan, then they aren't going to do it for Halladay IMHO.
  11. One of the most ignorant thing's you have ever said.
  12. Hansen had great stuff, but no brains.
  13. That should get a rise out of Dojji
  14. Tazawa made it in one season.
  15. I meant more your willingness to trade a player of Buchholz's status for one year/or more at a sizable extension of a player who is "established". exp1 pretty much covered the Lester comparison.
  16. Exactly the reason not to deal him IMO.
  17. I'd rather keep Buchholz and get a Holliday present under my tree :joke:
  18. I thought he may be the Miggy on the NL. I didn't think it be unanimous.
