  1. Dominicans RHP Anataner Batista and LHP Manuel Rivera combined to Shut down the Royals entry on thursday 4-0 in a 7 innings game. Batista pitched 5 2/2 IP 5 H 0R 0BB 5 K and 1 2/3 IP 1 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K. At the bat outfielder Roberto Feliz was the Sox top hitter going 3-2 (One double) Dominican outfielders Juan Bonifacio and Pedro Gonzalez both went 3-1 1R 1 RBI and Venezuelan third baseman Pedro Chourio 3-1 (a double) Sox top hitter Ronald bermudez went blank in 3 AB. The Sox are now 9-8 in the season and play the Yankes 2 on Friday.
  2. The Red Sox brass under the direction of Craig Shipley keeps protecting the Australians, players Like LHP Adam Blackley. Blackley hasn't pitched well in his five years in the Sox system and now is in the Low Lowell and not pitching very well, however the red Sox has let go Nicaraguan LHP Mario Pena. Pena has had better result than Blackley. I understand that Pena isn't a great prospect but a better prospect than Blackley. This philosophy of over protecting Australian prospect isn't only unfair but bad development procedure.
  3. Like I posted on the GCL thread the 2007 short season for the Red Sox it was a very important day, it was the profesional debut for Dominican bonus babies Engel Beltre and Oscar Tejada, but was also the first game in US soil for Venezuelan Victor Galue and Dominican Arbert Jimemez. in Lowell Dominican Short Stop Yamaico Navarro also played his first game in the United State. In Lowell on Wednesday 2007 first rounder Caleb Clay made his profesional debut and former outfielder Dominican Willy Mota made his debut as a pitcher. In the GCL Dominican Pedro Perez was the Sox starting pitcher also playing in his first game in the U.S.
  4. According to what I heard Clay fastball was bit down in his profesional debut, it was high 80's just touching 90.
  5. Dominican LHP Arbert Jimenez pitching in his first game officially in US soil got the Win. Jimenez pitched 4 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER one of those three hits was a HR the only run that the Sox pitchers allowed, Venezuelan RHP Victor Galue (like Jimenez, for Galue was his first game in U.S.soil) with a clean ninth inning got the save.
  6. The GCL start Today, The Red Sox won the GCL tittle in 2006 with a very talented team the 2007 team could be even more talented
  7. Sox RHP Dennis Neuman allowed two runs in the botton of the inith inning and the Sox entry lost to the the Dodgers 3-2. For the second game in a row there wasn't any hitting standouts. The pitching was very good again. Dominican RHP Charlie Rosario pitched 5 IP 5 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 4 K, RHP Victor De la Cruz 2 IP 2 H 1BB 1K, Venezuelan LHP Ernesto Reyes 1 IP 0 H 0R 1 B 1K and Neuman the looser. Venezuelan catcher Maykol Sanchez in his first year in the Sox system threw out 3 or 4 runners trying to steal.
  8. Yes. A different piitcher, one who allows 5-6 runs before the fifth inning its over.
  9. I don't believe that Schilling is hurt, no phisically anyway, i just believe its father time, some pitchers loose it quicker than others and if someone remember last year he wasn't as good as years before. The question is Schilling is a very proud man, would he give up before the season its over?
  10. To think that Schilling would turn around isn't realistic, Francona and his BS talks about Schilling's lack of command of his fastball and that's a issue, but far from the whole picture, Schilling fastball has decline the last two years and he was only throwing 87 with his fastball on Monday. When a pitcher like Schilling that every thing that he throws depends off his fastball that's a deadly sign.
  11. While the Red Sox made questionable decisions this past fall like with the signing of Lugo and Drew a decision that they didn't made was the right decision and decison was not to resign Schilling. Schilling has proved this season that he its only a shadow of the pitcher that he was in 2004 and not even close to be the staff ace like he wants to be called and contrary to what has been talk about he has been very consistent, that's he has shown that he can't pitch against good hitting teams and has been able to get by against the bad hitting teams.
  12. The Sox decision to start the season in Lancaster for Bard, Masterson and Johnson was a not a good decision they weren't ready for the California league. Masterson and Johnson has pitched a bit better in Lancaster lately, but while Bard also has pitched also a bit better its has been in Greenville.
  13. For those who have Email me and wanted find out about the 36-50 on the list. The rest; 36- Ryan Kalish CF 37- Jose Capellan LHP 38- Mike Jones 1B 39- Jon Egan C 40- Christian Lara SS 41- Hunter Jones LHP 42- Miguel Socolovitch RHP 43- Tyler Weeden C 44- Luis Sumoza RF 45- Kevin Guyette RHP 46- Chad Spann 3B 47- Jose Alvarez LHP 48- Jeff Natale 2B 49- Carlos Fernandez OF 50- Chris Jones RHP
  14. On Saturday the Sox entry committed six errors and lost to the Marlins entry in 11 inning 5-4. Venezuelan Outfielder Ronald Bermudez was the Sox hitting force with two hits. In the mound LHP Dominican Cesar Cabral pitched 5IP 6 H 1 R 0 ER 0 BB 5 K, Dominican RHP Brandon Ulloa 3 IP 1 H I R 0 ER 2 BB 2 K, RHP Mauel Jimenez 2/3 IP 0 h 1 R 0 ER 2 BB 2 K and LHP Manuel Rivera LP 2 IP 2H 2 R 2 ER 2 Bb 3 K. Monday the Sox plays the Dodgers entry
  15. 1- Its very close between Ellsbury and Buchholz at the end of the season it may be all away around, but at this time Ellsburymay be futher in his developement. 2- Chiang its the best pure hitter in the system along with the best hitting mechanics. Chiang not only has a higher ceiling thn Lowrie, but its a lot better prospect. 3- Arrambaris is only behind Chiang as a pure hitter in the system, his power hasn't developed as quickly as expected, when it does should be ranked higher. 4- The next five should be; 31- Caleb Clay RHP 32- Argenis Diaz SS 33- Bubba Bell OF 34- Jon Still (As a first baseman) 35- David Pauley RHP
  16. The Red Sox entry beat the Tampa entry Friday 3-2 and now are 7-4 one game behind the Royals and Dodgers entries on their own division. Dominican RHP Anataner Batista was the starter for the Sox 4 IP 3 H 2 R 1 ER BB 2K, Colombian RHP Randy Consuegra (W) 3 IP 2 H 0 R 0 bb 1 K, LHP Dominican Nestor Lastreto 1 IP 0 H 0 R 1 BB 1 K and RHP Dennis Neuman (From Curacao) 1 IP 1 H 0 R 0 BB 1 K and the save his second on the season.
  17. AZblue; As a hitter I am a bit more concern about Murphy than Kottaras, every time that I have seen him play it seems like he has a dead bat, no pop what so ever. Kottaras needs to play more than the Sox brass seems to have him playing, there isn't a question that he needs to go back to AAA in 2008 and I agree with Jackson that Kottaras doesn't project as a regular catcher in the ML, but he could be a decent back up.
  18. The Red Sox are 6-4 after 10 games and in second place one game behind on its division with three teams tied for first place. The Sox's hitting its lead by its outfielders with Ronald Bermudez leading the team is hitting with a 424 Ave and Roberto feliz with a 342 Ave for second on the team, a third outfielder Juan Bonifacio leads the team with 2 HR and its second in doubles with 4, one behind team leader Feliz with 5. Bermudez leads the team with hit with 14 one more than Feliz, Bermudez its also tied with second baseman Wilfred Pichardo with 5 stolen bases, with pichardo leading the team in runs score with 10 and Bermudez behind him with 7 runs scored, Pichardo also has 3 triples not one else in the team has any, however pichardo its hitting for a 222 ave, but its second on the team with 7 base on ball one behind Bermudez. Bonifacio leads the team with 9 RBI one more than Feliz, but also leads the team striking out with 14. The Sox pitching its lead by perhaps the team best prospect RHP Stolmy Pimental. Pimental leads the team in IP with 12 in 3 games 1/3 more than RHP Javier Jimenez. Pimental also leads the team with 12 strike outs, with RHP Charlie Rozario 9 and Jimenez with 8. Pimental hasn't allowed a run in 12 IP, RHP Randy Consuegra hasn't alllowed a run in 5 IP, Dennis Neuman in 4 1/3 and LHP Manuel Rivera in 4 IP. Rivera, Neuman and LHP Edwin Lopez 1 save each.
  19. With the DSL having started and the start of the short seasons teams on Tuesday the 19 its time for the half way point top Sox 30 minor league prospects. This list is composed on tools, projection, ceiling, age and production. Jon Lester and Manny DelCarmen has had too much MLB time to be on this list. Top 30: 1- Jacoby Ellsbury CF 2- Clay Buchholz RHP 3- Mike Bowden RHP 4- Brandon Moss RF 5- Lars Anderson 1B 6- Craig Hansen RHP 7- Chih-Hsien Chiang 2B 8- Edgar Martinez RHP 9- Aaron Bates 1B 10 Devern Hansack RHP 11 Bryson Cox RHP 12 David Murphy OF 13 Jed Lowrie As a second baseman 14 Jason Place CF 15 Manuel Arrambaris 3B 16 Justin Masterson RHP 17 Engel Beltre CF 18 Kris Johnson LHP 19 Reid Engel CF 20 Daniel Bard RHP 21 George Kottaras C 22 Josh Riddick CF 23 Oscar Tejada SS 24 Mark Wagner C 25 Tony Granadillo 2B 26 Felix Doubront LHP 27 Che-Hauang Lin CF 28 Dustin Richardson LHP (as a reliever) 29 Zachary Daeges LF 30 Kason Gabbard LHP 2007 draft pick who haven't signed aren't elegible for this list
  20. Most of the posters on this board shouldn't complain about Lugo's play, because you guys wanted for the Sox to sign him in the off season, instead of resigning Gonzalez which was the correct move at the time. Gonzalez hitting for a 250 ave and some power plus his defense, would had been a more valuable contributor than what Lugo has done.
  21. The Red Sox fifth hitter has been an issue the last couple of years with Nixon, Varitek and Drew not doing the job. If the Youkilis move its a permanent one also won't work out, Youkilis its having a good season, but its a complimentory player and not a production player and with him as the 5th hitter Ramirez isn't going to get a pitch to hit, pitchers aren't afraid to pitch to Youkilis. The right move to make its having Lowell to hit fifth behind Manny.
  22. Josh Papelbon is what he is, was drafted and signed as a courtesy to his brother, as a pitcher not only is a soft thrower, but his pitches are flat and the only movement that it has are from his delivery angle. His sucess is due to the inexperience to that type of pitching from the low A hitters.
  23. The 2007 DSL season started June second, I have been tied up with the draftand haven't had a chance to talk about it. The Sox have released the following players who played in the 2006 DSL. RHP Rafael Vargas RHP Neylin Morel RHP Emilio Valera RHP Gustavo Zarraga LHP Raul Mayorga OF Jose Sierra 3B Eudi Cordones C Alan Atacho Signed the following players; RHP Javier Jimenez RHP Manuel Jimenez RHP Juan Ronaldo RHP Charlie Rosario LHP Nestor Latresto SS German Reyes OF Pedro Gonzalez C D erwin Pinto
  24. My understanding is that Lin signed for $400,000 dollars.
