  1. well, this one is over. We had won 9 of 10. WHat can you do. Also, Burnett had some cuts on his fingers which is why he was taken out.
  2. That isnt saying much. I think the Yankee bridge is suffering from the starters' endurance. The Yanks are second in the AL in IP/start at 6.33. With the 9th being Rivera's, not played (away loss) or out of commision, the Yankees really havent had a lot of high leverage middle innings that went to anyone but Joba. Also, I said before the season that Aceves was the glue of the pen, and he is proving that now. Aceves was adept last yr at being an any role kinda guy. When our closer was tired, Aceves could close. When our setup guy was struggling, Aceves would give him a breather. Without him, it's Joba or bust seeing as Girardi has almost no confidence in Robertson
  3. Seems like the Yankees knew Burnett wasnt 100% prior to the game. They had Moseley up early. Wonder if he has a blister or something
  4. Damaso Marte to the DL with shoulder inflammation
  5. I think his OPS is gonna end up in the .850+ range and his BA will be around .270.
  6. Don't care if they exceeded it. Rumor per WEEI is that it will hinder them at the deadline cause they don't want to surpass it by too much
  7. The beer and brats looked ridiculous. With a little kraut and a toasted bun. Instant food coma. mmmmmm
  8. No substance again. Keep em coming!
  9. Ken Rosenthal with a not-so surprising update that the Yankees would love to have Adam Dunn or Joakim Soria. I dont see the Yankees matching up for Dunn, mostly cause he is under control through this yr only and the Yanks dont have the biggest need for a bat with no position (like Jesus Montero). But Soria, I could see the Yanks making a run at him. And the biggest trade chip they could us would be Chamberlain. Joba goes to KC and gets his career back on track probably in the rotation and Soria sets up for Mo as the potential successor as well.
  10. sour grapes and strawman all in one. Keep at it Dipre. Lemme guess, when the sox fall 10 games out you are gonna start bombing other sox fans who see this for what it is becoming.
  11. We always play them tough. Lee will make that a bit more difficult, but we can mash everyone after Lee
  12. Very likely. And if he stops hitting, he'll move back down in the order
  13. Manhy Banuelos has come back strong from his appendectomy. He was the Yankees top pitching prospect prior to this season and he is showing that he deserved that distinction. Last night, he was topping out at 95 mph and just dominated. 6IP 2H 1BB 7K 0ER. His line on the season is 23.1IP 14H 4ER 29K 8BB. He's a special talent and another reason why this yr has been the best season for a yankee farm system that I have ever seen
  14. Yes, I do. He has Brackman's ability (high 90s FB, wipeout curve) without the specter of Tommy John looming over him. And Brackman signed for top pick money. I expect Boras to ask for more than the Yanks gave Brackman
  15. It's the walks. This season, teams are pitching to him. Once they start pitching around him a bit, his BA will drop and his walks will rise.
  16. BTW, Detroit is tied with you guys in the L column for the WC. There is a chance that after your series with them, you are third in the WC race
  17. I am loving this. Militant Dipre is back! No, sometimes you get handled. But you just got handled by Colby Lewis and Tommy Hunter, and get to face the teeth of the Rangers staff in Lee and Wilson next. We'll see if you are singing the same tune when you get to Anaheim and are double digits back of the Yanks. At this point, I would assume you are rooting for NY to beat up on TB to stay in the hunt, right?
  18. Imperial and Chamomile, and I was right. I speculated about Yaz, but his posting style is different, so I drop that speculation for now. Then again, you talking about reality is HILARIOUS. You have had your head up your ass all season and are militantly defending everything about the sox. Have you lost touch with reality? You dont think that over the next 4 weeks that the sox offensive injuries will be exposed? If you dont, then there is a bridge I'd like to sell you
  19. Having Beckett and Buchholz back will certainly help, but now you are running into good pitching with a wounded lineup, so it will start to show. When your bruised up lineup went into TB, you got swept and scored under 4 runs per game in the series, then you got to score more than 4 per game vs the O's and more than 7 per game vs the Jays. Pedroia and VMart got hurt in SF, and since then, the only good team you played was the Rays and you lost 4 of 5 to them. Now, you get to face the Rangers, who actually pitch well and have lost 2 in a row, then you go out to the west coast and face King Felix, then off to ANA and DET, with both teams having good starting pitching. The timing of your injuries in terms of teams played couldnt have been better pre-ASB. But if your guys dont heal soon, which is sounds like you are a few weeks away in some cases, then the lineup will get exposed
  20. I have noticed a few things in my time as a fan. After big injuries, teams seem to unify and play better for a little while, but after a week or two, the team loses that momentum and the players revert to their norms. Now, after the ASB and facing good talent, the offense is really 4 guys deep and their spot starting pitching is either inexperienced or past their prime (Doubront and Wake). Until the sox get Pedroia, VMart, and Ellsbury back, their offense is gonna be very much reliant on the middle of their order. In terms of VMart, it sounds like he could be back offensively in a week or so as long as the pain subsides and could be back behind the dish in 2 weeks if everything goes well. Buchholz should make his next start next week. Pedroia comes out of the boot in 2 weeks and will probably need a week of working out before he can go on a rehab assignment, so it sounds like he might be 3.5 to 4 weeks away from returning to the sox lineup. I heard Vtek is a week behind that schedule. From the sounds of it, Ellsbury should be ready to play in rehab games soon. So if you figure that your team can get completely healthy for the last 6 weeks of the season, then maybe, just maybe you guys could make the playoffs.
  21. Montero went 2 for 4 with a double last night, AVG up to .262 and OPS creeping closer to .800
  22. If Hanley got dealt, a Justin Smoak type prospect would need to go back and frankly, the sox dont have that right now with Casey Kelly struggling in AA and no big name on the cusp. The sox system, after all their promotions (Lester, Buchholz, Youk, Pedroia, Papelbon, Delcarmen, etc etc etc) is a bit bare at the top with true blue chip players. In a yr, Kelly will probably be up there and in 3 yrs or so your HS talent from a yr ago should start shining through
