  1. He might get some ABs at Scutaro's expense. The defensive argument doesnt work since Scutaro has been poor in the field this season
  2. YS, if you saw what I saw in college ball, you'd be horrified. It's everywhere, and everyone is guilty as far as I'm concerned. So I dont care. I love the game, even if its played by roid heads
  3. Barring a Devil Ray collapse, the sox will not make the playoffs. And no matter what, the sox arent catching the yanks
  4. go for it. I dont care about PEDs. If I was good enough to be a fringe guy, I would definitely have juiced to make the millions
  5. You're 7 games back in the L column of the Yankees and 5 back of the Rays without your best player for the season. If you think the Yanks and Rays are gonna play .500 ball, then you're crazy
  6. that was the draft pick thread. A signing thread was never made
  7. Ah, might have been deleted, let me see if I can find it
  8. The Pats lost a lot of leadership last yr and their defense showed. They drafted a lot of leaders who also play well this yr and in a few yrs, Brady's twilight, their defense should be better disciplined
  9. 2-0 right now with CC on the hill.
  10. Pettitte felt tightness in his hip when getting up from the couch. Pushed back his rehab start. Great
  11. Dojji, this might not be the worst you see from Papelbon. ORS said it well. The stats have shown a decline over the past 3 yrs. It is more likely that the numbers continue to slide than it is that he finds his past dominance
  12. Youkilis has size. Nava doesnt. And I dont think he's a .850 guy once he gets figured out a bit
  13. dont know if one was made, and if one was, it was deleted
  14. We're gonna make it. But we are gonna need 4 starters. My guess is that Hughes will be one of the 4 and Vazquez will be left off. Vazquez has been solid this yr, dont get me wrong, and for the price, he was well worth it. But his variation in stuff makes him a tough play in the playoffs
  15. Jordan couldnt play this summer due to illness/injury. He wanted a lot of money and the Yankees were willing to see him play for it, but he couldnt, so they let him go
  16. I like the move. They could have drafted a guy like Ranaudo in the 1st round, but shifted gears and decided to divvy up the money multiple ways.
  17. rapped? One was a blooper that kicked away from an OFer
  18. Nava is a tweener in Boston. He isnt a CFer due to his average speed and minus range in CF. And he doesnt have the power of a COFer. But he can reasonably hit .280-.300 and walk enough to have an OPS in the .750-.800 range over his career. I dont see him as a starting COFer in Boston, but he could carve out a nice career as a 4th OFer or a starter in a lesser market
  19. Boy. I was eating lunch with my wife, when I decided to mow the lawn. Figured Paps was gonna shut it down in the 9th. Then, this happens? Awesome. The sox needed to be flawless without Youkilis the rest of the way to overtake the Rays, and tonight might be the nail in the coffin
  20. Of the guys still remaining... Mason Williams is expected to sign. Apparently, he wont even consider signing until tomorrow for summer league reasons. Speedy, great arm, plus contact, probably wont be more than a gap power guy Travis Dean looks like he's gonna head to college Evan Rutchkyj is a guy to watch. Rumors have abounded about the Yanks negotiating with him. He's tall, he's raw, but he's a hard throwing lefty with good tools. Would be a nice one to bring in Kevin Jacob sounds like he's heading back to school Kevin Jordan also sounds like he's going to school Richard Hively hasnt been mentioned at all, so he's probably heading to school Martin Viramontes, the hard throwing DES is in negotiations and might come down to the wire. Have heard rumors that he may have already agreed to a deal, but hasnt been confirmed John Desze sounds like the apple of Oppenheimer's eye. Righty HSer with a hard fastball and two off speed offerings that look dynamite. Sounds like there is a very good chance we sign him before time is up Stewart Ijames from Louisville is returning to school As for the rest, I have heard nothing about them and am assuming we're letting them fly
  21. Yankees signed RHP Taylor Morton. HS kid from Tennessee, 6'3" 205lbs sits 92, tops out at 96 with a plus change and a plus potential slider.
  22. Some interesting food for thought here... August record- 4-6 Runs scored per game- 3.9 Runs allowed per game- 4.2 QS- 5 The Yankees ERA in August right now is 3.93, which is solid. The problem is, it's 7th in the AL in August. Our hitters arent hitting. We have a .684 team OPS in August thus making our SP issue a bit more glaring. I am not blind. I see that after CC and without Pettitte, you're rolling the dice. But the offense has made this dead arm period for both Hughes and Vazquez pretty apparent
  23. Angelo Gumbs will sign today. Unsure for how much. Also, Callis is reporting that Ben Gamel has agreed to a 500K bonus and will sign today. Turning into a phenomenal draft class
