  1. Nobody is down on him. They just dont think he should be the starter for 2011, which is absolutely correct
  2. I agree, and look at the guys we have sucked against. All rookie/young pitchers with marginal stuff but good changeups. The Yankees seem to hit pitchers better when they have more experience against them. They're professional hitters. If the Twins or the Rangers wanted to beat us, they'd start Lee/Liriano then their entire AAA rotation for the rest of the series.
  3. The pitching in this system is absolutely dominant and will continue to be so
  4. Sounds like he'll be at instructs but not at winterball
  5. Bolded for emphasis
  6. Montero had an infected hematoma that was drained. He's out for the season
  7. Right, but the problem is, he's 38 yrs old, relies on speed and quickness and is coming off an injury that can recur and cause further trouble
  8. 4 solid innings from Pettitte tonight in AA. He'll probably get one more rehab start, but he's on course to throw 2 big league starts prior to the playoffs. NICE!
  9. Likely died of an arrythmia is the final report. He had findings of left ventricular hypertrophy which you can get from long standing hypertension and in other instances, long standing tobacco and cocaine use.
  10. I'll believe that when it happens. Boras clients never retire. They stop getting offered contracts
  11. Life's curveballs hit everyone at some point. Sorry to hear it, but you'll pull through.
  12. I thought from the outset of the season that the red sox team was a playoff team if healthy, but I thought that the Yankee team was going to win the division. Obviously, injuries have changed things, but the Yankees are on pace to win the division and the Red Sox have a better record than the Rangers who are a division leader by 10 games.
  13. Let's say perfect world. Both of their contracts are up after this yr and you have a $12.5 mil option on both of them and you could only exercise one option. Who do you take? Papi and his circa .900OPS or Drew and his .787OPS and capability of playing a good RF?
  14. It may be objective, but it doesnt fit this economy and it doesnt fit his performance. A .787OPS corner OFer isnt worth $10 million unless he has elite speed or elite defense. Drew isnt a burner and he plays good but not elite defense.
  15. And fangraphs is the be all and end all? I agree that my assessment was completely subjective, but so is the fangraph one. And do you really, really think that JD Drew and his .787OPS as a corner OFer is worth $10 million this yr? Really? That is the flaw in the argument there. And, how can a guy be worth $18.2 million in a season where they miss 1/3 of the yr? Really? So if he were healthy and played all 162, he'd be worth $27.3 million? That's absolutely absurd
  16. I doubt the power numbers stay suppressed for long.
  17. Exactly. Does he have promise, absolutely. Is he ready? Not at all.
  18. Thanks sox, we'll take it from here
  19. I think the sox should look at Cameron as their 4th OFer. They overpaid for him and nobody will assume the contract. And with at least 2 starting OFers being lefty and one of them being DL Drew, Cameron would get his share of starts
  20. BTW, huge homer there from Swisher. It really would have been embarrassing getting swept at home by the O's.
  21. Our offense is scarier than any lineup in the game and our bullpen is lights out. All we need is 5IP from anyone not named Pettitte or Sabathia and we have a good chance.
  22. If we hit, we win the division, period. The regular season is all about offense. The post season is mostly about offense but pitching has a bigger hand in it. People seem to look at power pitching and overreact that CC and AJ were the reasons we won. We scored an ass load of runs and hit the piss out of the ball late in games. Both were important.
  23. This offense bites cock right now
