  1. I'd go for cracker jack
  2. True, the major issue is that I will have a bit longer to root for Vazquez than sox fans will for DiceK, this season at least
  3. C/DH. Posada isnt getting any younger and Montero is ready. His defense made some serious strides this yr. He's probably at Posada's defensive level and probably better in the batter's box at this point
  4. whaddya think the chances are DiceK gets moved and Doubront enters the rotation?
  5. SO this DiceK guy is really annoying when you are rooting for him
  6. So we win 8 in a row based mostly on offense, then our offense goes cold and it looks like we're staring 3 losses in a row in the face. Shite
  7. DiceK is an awful defender
  8. Well into the offseason. The AFL still needs to be played
  9. No FB command and no change = no win. Get it out of the system now
  10. Yeah, after 2 devastating blows early on with Garcia and Bleich going down with career threatening injuries, it really took off. BA is finally set to have the Yankees in the top 10 next yr, even though they should have been there this yr. But that is neither here nor there. Since the Yankees failed to make a move for RJ in 2004 due to farm system weakness (although Cano and Wang were available at that time), Cash and Co. made their farm a priority. And in that time, we have seen Hughes, Chamberlain, Gardner, Robertson, Cano, Wang, Aceves, Nunez, Pena, and Cervelli make meaningful contributions on a 1st place team, while also seeing Kennedy, Jackson, Ohlendorf, McCutchen, Karstens, Tabata, and Steven Jackson make the bigs (or excel in Kennedy and Jackson's case) for others as well. And the fact that we are still in the top 10 means that there is a lot more to come.
  11. I just dont see Crawford in NY. I know everyone is thinking he is coming to the Yanks, but where do they put him? Gardner in LF has been a revelation, and IMO is worth more to this team as a .390OBP guy out of the leadoff spot than Crawford would be as a .350OBP guy. Plus, Gardy is league minimum and has proven to be an elite defender with a very accurate arm. Granderson will be about $5-$7 mil cheaper and has shown a big jump in his hitting ability since the ASB (10HR .842OPS). You dont cut bait on that when you control him for reasonable money for 2 more yrs. Then you have Swish under contract for one more season in RF, and he's been our second most consistent hitter behind Cano. Do you get Crawford and move Swish to DH? Probably not since Montero should be in the bigs next yr effectively splitting catcher and DH down the middle with Posada AND needing a landing place for aging vets like Jeter and ARod. I just dont see it. We made our bed with big contracts to ARod, Tex and soon to be another one for Jeter (which I am opposed to, but its gonna happen). And the offense has produced as the top offense in the game. Sometimes if it aint broke, you dont fix it. I truly think this offseason is going to be spent with the Yankees adding Lee and doing some pen tweaking and trying to upgrade a bench that will be pressed into duty much more with the star veterans aging
  12. Montero ends his regular season in style with his 21st homer. Final line for Jesus... .289/.353/.517 OPS of .870, 21HR 75RBI 34 doubles. Hell of a season. But his numbers from July 1 on were just stupid. .340/.406/.650 with 15HR in 197AB. This kid is special and has mastered AAA. He better be in the Bronx to start 2011. He is ridiculous
  13. Yep, Girardi's complacency cost us a game.
  14. Just some food for thought here, Jayson Werth just signed with Scott Boras
  15. Lars Anderson was called up today
  16. Might turn out to be a game losing decision. Our pen has been money and Burnett had a pretty good outing until he faced Burnett. He keeps AJ in to face him and it probably will cost us the game
  17. Keeping Burnett in to face Roberts, who has worn him out today, was stupid. But then again, Girardi is no MENSA member
  18. solid retort man, gotta love it. Well, the one time I actually root for the sox, they blow a lead late and lose. Well, hopefully they dominate for the next 3 games
  19. I could see Papelbon on the Mets
  20. I think he should be, but I also think that its kinda pointless to do it now, and with the playoffs upon us, we know he wont cower in the corner when time comes. So he stays at #2, but once he inks the new contract, I'd stick him in the #9 hole
  21. If I were a sox fan, I wouldnt go to anymore games. This is embarassing, but also secretly pleasing. The crappy thing is that the sox are so damn dead that they'll roll over for the Rays
  22. Should you really sell low? If you hold onto him one more yr you'll at least get 2 draft picks for him
  23. If we offer him 2 yrs $20 mil, who is going to outbid us?
