  1. I guarantee you they spend most of that. There is going to be a major pitching acquisition and Jeter and Mo will be back. I can guarantee those three things
  2. There is an end in sight for Posada, no doubt, and it could be as soon as next yr. Montero is ready. He is better than Posada now defensively (in terms of arm) and has the upside of a Miguel Cabrera offensively. And behind him, we have Romine, who has the glove, but hasnt shown the durability to continue his offensive production as the season wore on (ie he got tired). Posada will not be a full time catcher in 2011. He'll be a part timer with Montero there and by 2012, there wont be a place for him. Montero will be DHing half the time and splitting time behind the dish with Romine. So yes, the end is definitely in the crosshairs for the old veteran Jeter, IMO, will put up a better offensive yr next yr, but I highly doubt his range improves at all. It most likely will slow to a point where he isnt useful to us as a SS anymore. I think the playoff run showed he still has the bat. For some reason, it disappeared for 3 months, but he still has power the other way and can still hit the ball square. But he is the oldest starting SS in the majors and his range coupled with ARod slowing down a bit has made the left side hole a magnet for base hits. Pettitte showed he can still do it, his durability is my main concern. But if we get Lee, he will be extraneous. Hell, it would be nice to see him in the #4 slot with Burnett as the #5, but it wouldnt be necessary and might hurt the development of the club's young pitchers, who are hard charging And Mariano continues to defy logic. His new nickname should be Benjamin Button. The older he gets, the younger his stuff looks. I think he gets back on the horse for another 2 seasons. And every time I think he is going to slow down, he just gets better.
  3. I should have clarified. I am sure there is someone, who will not be as easy to get and as effective as Lee.
  4. I am sure there is someone. Not sure yet. I dont touch Greinke with a 10 foot pole from a mental stability standpoint, but from a talent standpoint, you wont get much better
  5. Great game. The Giants might be the favorites with that rotation, although I do not break up Cain and Lincecum this time around
  6. We will have him by the balls if we get Lee. Either come back for pennies on the dollar or, well, we dont need you
  7. The Braves have Freddy Freeman, a solid rookie who is ready.
  8. Once the Yankees get knocked out, I root for the quickest end to the WS. And while I dont hate the Rangers, I think it benefits us in the Lee race for him to not have won a world series prior to hitting FA. So, I am rooting for the Giants to win the next 5 games and get a head start on free agency
  9. Thank you very much. Sometimes I just cannot put things as eloquently. This is what I meant to say. He'll get offers to close for non-contenders
  10. Quoted for truth. Sometimes I hate being right
  11. Runs... 38 to 19 in favor of Texas Average.... .304 to .217 in favor of Texas RISP..... .333 to .151 in favor of Texas ERA.... 3.23 to 6.58 in favor of Texas We were blindsided
  12. Now, in terms of contingency plans should Lee take less money elsewhere, I think it has to start with Matt Cain. He has a club option for 2011, which is a no-brainer. And at 26yrs old, the guy is lights out and has a bright future ahead of him. And, as one of the marquee pitching names available after 2011, he is probably not long pitching by the bay. It would take a massive haul, and if you took Montero off the table (since he is due to start in NY next yr and the Giants dont need a catcher) then you are probably looking at Betances and Banuelos going the other way.
  13. And at the very least, this allows me to study for my boards.
  14. Jesus F-ing Christ I hate writing in a hot stove thread when our season is over before the World Series ends. Oh well. We werent good enough, that's the bottom line, and the Rangers getting Cliff Lee, while big, really wasnt the story. That being said, it would have helped a ton to have a second reliable pitcher. Well, it's officially the off-season for NY. Time to prepare the funds for the Lee acquisition. If Lee does what I think he is going to do (win 2 games in the World Series) then I think all offers start at 5 years and probably go into a 6th yr, be it a vesting option or a club option. He will be the key to the offseason Now in terms of Mariano, write him a 2 yr deal at the same AAV, he is so money. And in terms of Jeter, I doubt anyone beats a 3 yr 30 mil deal. That's what I throw his way, no more $18 mil seasons for the captain.
  15. Well, we werent good enough. Texas was better. I was expecting a slugfest, but instead our 200 million dollar team couldnt muster more than 5ER in 3 starts vs subpar pitchers. We pitched our second best pitcher once in the series (Pettitte) and allowed probably the coldest pitcher on the team to start a pivotal game 4 and then allow him pitch himself into a loss in the 6th inning. Our manager sucked. Our lineup sucked worse. And our rotation aside from Pettitte sucked the most. We werent good enough, that's the bottom line.
  16. Was that a 1-2-3 inning? Wow, forgot what those looked like. If he is willing to bring in Wood to start the 6th, why isnt he willing to bring him in to diffuse a rough situation in the 5th with 2 outs?
  17. Bud Selig is faced with the real possibility of the World Series setting new viewership lows with Texas and possibly SF
  18. Now he brings in Wood? Unbelievable
  19. We dont deserve to win. We just dont. The Rangers have been better and our manager has been pushing the self destruct button since we lined up with Texas. I hate Girardi. f***ing hate the man
  20. Jeter showing his utter ability to lead by swinging at a first pitch out of the zone. Jesus Christ, lets actually get a team out there who can f***ing play the game. This team has sucked since closing out Minnesota. First thing to do this offseason is get a manager who isnt braindead. Second, is to get a second ace so we dont have to worry about whether or not to use Hughes in game 2. Third, is to bring up Montero to add some life to this dead offense.
  21. I would have used Moseley. He's not awesome, but he at least locates. Robertson and Hughes all of a sudden developed cockshotophilia. They love throwing down the f***ing middle. Girardi just boggles my mind. How in the hell do you manager an elimination game with NO f***ING SENSE OF URGENCY!!
  22. There isnt plenty of time. This team hasnt been hitting. We tied the game up. Hughes gave up a 2 run double, it happens. But bringing in our worst reliever right now was not the answer. I expect an elimination game to be played with more urgency.
