    I dont see the Yankees getting Ubaldo. They are concerned about the velo drop and that his control will likely render him a 6 inning pitcher in the AL East at most. While he would be an upgrade, they dont feel he's worth the cost of obtaining him. If the cost is Montero plus Banuelos, then I agree. I'd give up one of those guys as a top of the package, but wouldnt include both

    The GCL Yankees are laying to wood to opponents of late. They've won 8 in a row and are currently tops in the GCL North with a 24-11 record. Today, Dante Bichette Jr went off again. He's hit in 14 straight games, and during that time, he's hit .500. Today, he went 2 for 6 with a HR and a double. His slash line is a silly .336/.466/.531. Not sure why he is staying at the GCL level, aside from the fact that Tyler Austin was just promoted to SI. He isnt being challenged anymore and Matt Duran just showed up

    They've done a great job without ARod, who was having a bounceback season prior to his injury. Since the ASB, they are 8-6, but they've gone from 5 games up in the L column for the WC to 7. They get Soriano back tonight, so we'll see what he has to offer, and we should see ARod starting a rehab within a week or so. He should be back in the bigs the second week of August.

    I'd be careful before completely blowing off your only real competition for the AL pennant. The Yanks are good, and are one pitcher from being just as concerning. And for all we know, that pitcher may already be in the rotation

    Bubba Jones signed. Hayden Sharp has agreed to sign but hasnt passed the physical yet. Sam Stafford agreed to a number, but apparently there are some concerns on the physical. Stay tuned

    I should have specified. His inability to hit against the shift. If he could take more pitches the other way, he'd eliminate the shift

    Why havent the Yanks brought him up? Because Martin has been gold defensively and we dont exactly have a dynamite staff. If we dont upgrade our rotation, then keeping a good catcher around is much more important. Also, because the kid is 21 yrs old. He's very young and is more of an offense first player. I am sure that without Posada, we'd have the kid up already, but Girardi's loyalty to Posada has left the kid without a big league role that is sustainable. Nobody wants to burn the kid's first season as a backup without a secondary role he could slot into. Without Posada, he breaks camp in the bigs next yr as Martin's backup and majority DH. The kid has now tools and can hit. He's just a bit immature (suspended 3 times for nonchalant behaviour) and he's raw defensively.
